Job Title: Hydraulics Maintenance

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Hydraulics Maintenance Manager to oversee and lead the hydraulics maintenance team, ensuring that hydraulic systems in our manufacturing facilities are maintained, optimized, and repaired in a timely, safe, and cost-efficient manner. As the manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians, coordinating maintenance activities, driving continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. You will also work closely with engineering, production, and other departments to ensure that hydraulic systems are functioning efficiently to support production goals and overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership and Management:

    • Lead, manage, and develop a team of hydraulic technicians, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure high levels of expertise within the team.
    • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
    • Allocate resources effectively, ensuring technicians are properly trained and equipped to meet the demands of the facility.
    • Ensure the team adheres to maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards while minimizing downtime.
  2. Hydraulic System Maintenance and Optimization:

    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems across all machinery and equipment, ensuring that all systems are operating efficiently and reliably.
    • Identify opportunities for optimization in hydraulic systems and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, performance, and efficiency.
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies to reduce unplanned downtime and extend the life of hydraulic equipment.
  3. Budgeting and Resource Management:

    • Manage the hydraulic maintenance budget, ensuring that maintenance activities are completed within financial guidelines and that resources are used efficiently.
    • Monitor and control expenditures for parts, labor, and materials used in maintenance and repair activities.
    • Work with procurement teams to ensure proper inventory levels of hydraulic components, parts, and tools to support maintenance efforts.
  4. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all hydraulic maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines, minimizing risks to staff, equipment, and the environment.
    • Conduct safety audits and maintain a culture of safety within the team, ensuring that all safety procedures are followed.
    • Ensure that all maintenance activities meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, including documentation of maintenance records for audits.
  5. Project Management and Coordination:

    • Lead and manage complex hydraulic maintenance projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion and minimal disruption to production.
    • Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to integrate hydraulic systems into new or modified equipment and ensure optimal system performance.
    • Manage system upgrades, hydraulic component replacements, and new installations to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  6. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Monitor and track the performance of hydraulic systems using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as downtime, system reliability, and maintenance costs.
    • Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities, performance trends, and areas for improvement for senior management.
    • Present findings and make recommendations to senior management regarding maintenance strategies, system performance, and resource requirements.
  7. Vendor and Supplier Management:

    • Oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers for hydraulic components, equipment, and specialized services.
    • Ensure that vendors meet performance, quality, and delivery standards, and collaborate to resolve any service-related issues.

  1. Vehicle Dynamics:

    • Contribute to the maintenance and optimization of hydraulic systems used in vehicle dynamics, focusing on performance, stability, and handling systems powered by hydraulics.
  2. Powertrain Systems:

    • Support the maintenance of hydraulic systems in powertrain components such as transmissions and drivetrains, ensuring efficient operation and minimizing downtime.
  3. Structural Engineering:

    • Ensure that hydraulic systems integrated within vehicle or machinery structures are operating optimally, contributing to the durability and safety of the overall structure.
  4. Electronics & Electrical Systems:

    • Collaborate with the electronics team to ensure the seamless integration of hydraulic systems with electronic control systems, optimizing functionality and communication between mechanical and electrical components.
  5. Thermal Systems:

    • Maintain hydraulic systems related to thermal management, such as cooling systems or HVAC units, to ensure efficient operation under varying temperatures.
  6. Manufacturing & Assembly:

    • Contribute to the optimization of manufacturing and assembly processes involving hydraulic systems, improving overall system reliability, efficiency, and product quality.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
    • 8+ years of experience in hydraulics maintenance or engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a management or leadership role.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Extensive experience in the maintenance, repair, and optimization of hydraulic systems and components.
    • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, and control systems in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
    • Expertise in troubleshooting complex hydraulic systems and developing effective solutions.
    • Proficient in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
  3. Leadership and Management Skills:

    • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of technical professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams, including engineering, production, and management.
    • Excellent decision-making abilities and the capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Certification in hydraulic systems maintenance, industrial machinery repair, or mechanical systems.
    • Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO) and quality assurance protocols.
    • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification is a plus for process optimization.
