Job Title: Hydraulics Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Hydraulics Mechanic to join our manufacturing team. As a junior mechanic, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems and components used in our manufacturing equipment. You will work under the guidance of experienced hydraulics technicians and engineers to learn and apply your technical skills in the repair and upkeep of hydraulic systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop your career in the hydraulic systems field within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hydraulic Systems Maintenance:

    • Assist in the routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems used in manufacturing equipment and machinery, including pumps, valves, hoses, and actuators.
    • Troubleshoot and identify issues in hydraulic systems, including leaks, malfunctions, and performance problems.
    • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure hydraulic systems function efficiently and minimize downtime.
  2. Component Installation and Testing:

    • Help install new hydraulic components and systems according to technical specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
    • Assist in testing installed hydraulic systems and components to ensure they operate within established parameters and meet performance requirements.
  3. Repair and Troubleshooting:

    • Assist in disassembling and repairing malfunctioning hydraulic components, including pumps, valves, and actuators, and reassemble systems after repairs.
    • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues in hydraulic systems, ensuring they are restored to optimal working condition.
  4. Fluid Management and Analysis:

    • Monitor and maintain hydraulic fluid levels and ensure fluid cleanliness in systems to prevent contamination and system failures.
    • Assist in fluid replacement, filtration, and analysis to ensure proper fluid conditions for optimal system performance.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for hydraulic systems and components.
    • Report any issues or recommendations for improvements to senior technicians or managers and assist in updating maintenance logs and records.
  6. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work with engineering and production teams to support the integration of new hydraulic systems and components into existing equipment.
    • Assist in troubleshooting and providing solutions to hydraulic system-related challenges faced by production teams.
  7. Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow all safety procedures and regulations when working with hydraulic systems, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to maintenance safety standards.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations for hydraulic systems, ensuring that all work is done in accordance with company policies and safety protocols.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Vehicle Dynamics:

    • Assist in analyzing and optimizing vehicle handling, stability, and ride comfort through simulation and testing, specifically related to hydraulic components.
  2. Powertrain Systems:

    • Contribute to the design and testing of hydraulic systems within powertrain components, including engines, transmissions, and drivetrains, ensuring efficient operation under various conditions.
  3. Structural Engineering:

    • Support the integration of hydraulic systems into vehicle structures, ensuring safe, durable, and reliable performance under various operating conditions.
  4. Electronics & Electrical Systems:

    • Assist in the integration of hydraulic systems with electronic controls, sensors, and other electrical systems, ensuring smooth operation and communication within the vehicle system.
  5. Thermal Systems:

    • Assist in the development and maintenance of hydraulic systems related to thermal management, ensuring effective operation of systems such as engine cooling and HVAC units that use hydraulic components.
  6. Manufacturing & Assembly:

    • Participate in optimizing manufacturing processes and assembly techniques for hydraulic systems, contributing to improved efficiency and quality in production.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical training.
    • Recent graduates or individuals with 1-2 years of hands-on experience in hydraulic maintenance or manufacturing are encouraged to apply.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of hydraulic systems, components, and maintenance practices.
    • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and techniques used to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
    • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to understand system configurations and specifications.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify mechanical issues and propose effective solutions.
    • Good communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and reporting maintenance activities.
    • A strong desire to learn and improve skills in hydraulic maintenance and systems repair.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Certification in hydraulic maintenance or mechanical systems is a plus but not required.
    • Any training related to fluid systems or hydraulic components is an advantage.
