Job Title: Handyman / Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:
The Handyman / Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks to ensure the safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing condition of buildings, equipment, and surrounding areas. This role requires hands-on skills across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general repairs, along with the ability to respond promptly to maintenance requests.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general maintenance and repair work on plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other building systems.
Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify and address potential issues proactively.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot problems efficiently.
Assemble, install, and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and materials used.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, building codes, and regulations during all maintenance tasks.
Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, or facility preparation for special events.
Collaborate with other team members and contractors to complete larger maintenance projects.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and work areas.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in maintenance-related fields is a plus.
Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and painting techniques.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
Basic knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
Valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
May require occasional evening, weekend, or emergency call-out work.
Must be able to lift heavy objects and work in various physical positions (bending, climbing, standing for extended periods).
