Job Title: HVAC Testing Lab Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Junior HVAC Testing Lab Supervisor supports the day-to-day operations of the HVAC development and validation laboratory, focusing on test setup, instrumentation, safety compliance, and test execution under the direction of senior lab personnel. This role ensures that HVAC systems and components (compressors, evaporators, blowers, ducts, etc.) are tested according to established procedures for performance, durability, and compliance. The junior supervisor is hands-on with test benches, data acquisition systems, and HVAC test fixtures, while learning the fundamentals of lab management and technical supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and setup of HVAC test equipment, instrumentation, and data logging systems.

  • Support test execution for components and systems including airflow, temperature control, noise, and thermal performance evaluations.

  • Ensure test procedures are followed accurately and that safety protocols are maintained during lab activities.

  • Maintain lab equipment, tools, and test stands in good operational condition; report issues to senior staff.

  • Record and organize test results, sensor calibrations, and test parameters for analysis and documentation.

  • Coordinate with test engineers to understand test objectives, timelines, and equipment requirements.

  • Help implement 5S practices, lab organization, and inventory of test fixtures and consumables.

  • Support environmental chamber testing, airflow rigs, and refrigeration cycle evaluations as directed.

  • Hands-on support for HVAC system/component testing

  • Safety and procedural compliance in lab operations

  • Basic troubleshooting of lab equipment and test rigs

  • Support for airflow, temperature, and refrigeration tests

  • Coordination with test engineers and lab technicians


Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering, HVAC Technology, or related field required

Experience:

  • 0–2 years of experience in a testing lab or HVAC-related role (internships or co-op experience welcomed)

Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems and test equipment (thermocouples, flow meters, pressure sensors)

  • Familiarity with data acquisition tools (e.g., NI LabVIEW, Dewesoft, or similar platforms) is a plus

  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings and wiring diagrams

Soft Skills:

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills

  • Good communication skills for working with cross-functional teams

  • Willingness to learn and take initiative in a lab environment
