This role manages engineering teams, coordinates with project stakeholders, ensures code compliance, and delivers high-performance, energy-efficient HVAC solutions aligned with business or project goals.
Lead and review HVAC system designs for commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects
Approve HVAC load calculations, equipment selection (chillers, AHUs, VRFs), and duct/piping layouts
Ensure HVAC designs comply with relevant codes (ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NBC, local standards)
Coordinate HVAC engineering deliverables: schematic designs, shop drawings, BOQs, technical specs
Collaborate with architects, structural, and electrical teams for integrated MEP coordination
Review technical submittals, vendor approvals, and manage design change controls
Oversee HVAC system testing, commissioning, air balancing, and functional performance testing
Validate system performance against design benchmarks (COP, EER, IAQ, airflow rates)
Establish and enforce quality assurance protocols during installation and commissioning
Drive adoption of energy-efficient technologies like VFDs, demand-controlled ventilation, thermal storage
Collaborate with Energy Managers or Sustainability teams for green building certification (LEED, IGBC)
Optimize HVAC designs for lifecycle cost, energy usage, and operational maintainability
Manage and mentor a team of HVAC engineers, draftsmen, and project coordinators
Serve as a technical liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors
Conduct internal technical reviews, training sessions, and design validation workshops
Ensure adherence to safety codes and mechanical design standards
Review risk assessments related to HVAC system design and site implementation
Oversee refrigerant management protocols (EPA, F-Gas compliance if applicable)
Develop HVAC design budgets, resource plans, and procurement strategies
Track project progress, technical KPIs, and report deviations or delays
Participate in value engineering and lifecycle cost assessments
