We are seeking a technically skilled Mid-Level HVAC Engineer to take ownership of HVAC design and engineering activities across commercial, industrial, and energy-sector projects. This role involves applying a working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and API standards to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and compliance of HVAC systems. The successful candidate will independently manage portions of projects, support cross-disciplinary coordination, and contribute to technical and construction documentation.
Design HVAC systems including chilled water, DX systems, ventilation, pressurization, and exhaust per project requirements.
Perform detailed calculations (load estimation, psychrometric analysis, duct and pipe sizing, static pressure drop).
Select HVAC equipment (AHUs, FCUs, pumps, chillers, filters) with consideration for performance, energy efficiency, and code compliance.
Ensure designs conform to ASHRAE standards (e.g., 55, 62.1, 90.1), SMACNA guidelines, and relevant API standards (e.g., API 500, 521) especially in oil & gas or industrial facilities.
Interpret local codes and global specifications to ensure regulatory alignment and proper safety practices.
Develop HVAC design drawings, schematics, and schedules using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
Collaborate with architects, structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure integrated system delivery.
Support procurement activities through vendor coordination, technical evaluations, and submittal reviews.
Participate in site surveys, HVAC system inspections, and pre-commissioning/commissioning assistance.
Address RFIs, as-built drawings, and HVAC-related construction issues.
Prepare design reports, equipment datasheets, BOQs, and control narratives.
Ensure proper documentation of calculations and code justifications for client and regulatory review.
Independent HVAC system design and specification
HVAC system compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, and API
Multi-disciplinary coordination and drawing development
Field support and vendor interfacing
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Systems Engineering
EIT/FE required; PE license or in progress is a strong plus
ASHRAE membership or training, SMACNA familiarity, and API experience are advantageous
3–6 years of hands-on experience in HVAC design engineering
Exposure to HVAC projects in sectors such as oil & gas, power plants, cleanrooms, data centers, or large commercial buildings
Proficient in HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, TRACE 700, Elite Software)
Strong skills in AutoCAD and Revit MEP for HVAC layout and coordination
Familiar with BMS/controls concepts and airflow balancing
Strong communication and cross-functional coordination abilities
Problem-solving mindset with attention to safety, quality, and compliance
Capable of mentoring junior staff and reviewing their deliverables
