Job Title: Senior HVAC Design Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior HVAC Design Engineer to lead our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and optimizing complex HVAC systems for large-scale commercial, industrial, or institutional projects. You will play a pivotal role in strategic planning, technical leadership, and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring designs meet energy efficiency, sustainability, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Design and Development:
- Lead the design and development of sophisticated HVAC systems using advanced design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HAP).
- Perform detailed load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment selection to create efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions.
- Develop innovative strategies to optimize system performance and reduce operating costs.
Project Leadership and Management:
- Oversee HVAC design projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and contractors, to integrate HVAC designs with overall building plans.
- Conduct design reviews, provide critical feedback, and manage design revisions based on stakeholder input and regulatory requirements.
Technical Expertise and Innovation:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on HVAC design principles, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
- Develop and implement best practices and standards for HVAC system design and documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead research into new technologies and methodologies to enhance system efficiency.
Mentorship and Team Leadership:
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering professional development and technical excellence.
- Lead team meetings, workshops, and training sessions to promote knowledge sharing and innovation.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise during design implementation and commissioning phases.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver tailored HVAC solutions.
- Prepare and present detailed design proposals, technical reports, and feasibility studies to clients and management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and industry experts to stay ahead of market trends.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced coursework or training in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, energy management, or sustainable design is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in HVAC design engineering, with a proven track record on large-scale projects.
- Extensive experience in project management, advanced load calculations, and energy modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design projects and mentor engineering teams.
Skills:
- Expert proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HAP) and strong command of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- A proactive, innovative approach to design challenges and continuous improvement initiatives.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications in HVAC design, energy management, or sustainable building practices are a plus.
