Job Title: HSE Engineer
Job Summary:
The Senior HSE Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) systems to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role involves managing high-level risk assessments, conducting audits, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and providing strategic leadership to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
HSE System Leadership:
- Design, implement, and manage advanced HSE management systems that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the development and enforcement of HSE policies, procedures, and protocols to mitigate risks.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HSE systems, recommending strategic improvements to enhance safety and environmental compliance.
Risk Assessment and Incident Management:
- Conduct advanced risk assessments for critical operations, identifying potential hazards and recommending comprehensive mitigation strategies.
- Lead investigations into significant incidents, accidents, and near-misses, performing detailed root cause analyses and implementing preventive actions.
- Analyze incident trends and develop long-term strategies to reduce workplace risks and enhance safety performance.
Audits and Compliance:
- Lead and manage internal and external HSE audits, ensuring full compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant standards.
- Address audit findings by developing corrective action plans and ensuring their timely implementation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, national, and international HSE regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver specialized HSE training programs tailored to organizational needs, ensuring employee understanding of complex safety and environmental standards.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and environmental responsibility through strategic communication and engagement initiatives.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level HSE professionals, fostering technical growth and leadership skills.
Process Improvement and Innovation:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and lead initiatives to enhance safety and environmental performance.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, such as IoT-enabled monitoring systems, to improve HSE practices.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, ensuring the organization meets its environmental and corporate social responsibility goals.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting:
- Act as the primary HSE representative for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, clients, and contractors.
- Prepare and present detailed HSE performance reports, highlighting key metrics, trends, and improvement strategies to senior management.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE considerations into operational planning and execution.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Expertise in HSE management systems, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and OSHA regulations.
- Advanced knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, root cause analysis, and preventive action planning.
- Strong understanding of environmental compliance, including waste management, emissions control, and sustainability practices.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation to support strategic decision-making.
- Familiarity with advanced HSE tools, monitoring systems, and reporting software.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Advanced certifications, such as NEBOSH International Diploma, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, or CSP (Certified Safety Professional), are highly desirable.
Key Focus Areas:
- Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Leading the development and implementation of advanced quality assurance processes for process control systems, optimizing for operational efficiency and compliance.
- SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Overseeing the quality management of SCADA systems, ensuring full integration, testing, and long-term reliability of all components.
- Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Leading the quality assurance efforts for safety-critical systems, implementing best practices, and ensuring regulatory compliance and reliability of shutdown protocols.
- Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Spearheading compliance initiatives across all systems, conducting high-level audits, and ensuring adherence to environmental, regulatory, and industry standards at an organizational level.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in HSE management or a related field, with demonstrated leadership in managing complex systems and processes.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale audits, manage high-risk projects, and implement successful HSE initiatives.
Tools and Technologies:
- Advanced safety monitoring tools and environmental compliance systems.
- Proficiency in HSE management software and data analytics tools for tracking and improving performance.
