Job Title: HSE Engineer
Job Summary:
The Fresher HSE Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation of health, safety, and environmental protocols to ensure compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves assisting in risk assessments, monitoring workplace safety, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental awareness. The HSE Engineer works under the supervision of senior professionals and gains foundational knowledge in HSE practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety Monitoring:
- Assist in conducting workplace inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Monitor safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, PPE, and emergency response systems, to ensure functionality.
- Report unsafe conditions and near-misses to supervisors for timely resolution.
Risk Assessment and Incident Reporting:
- Support the preparation of basic risk assessments for tasks, equipment, and environments.
- Assist in investigating incidents and preparing reports detailing causes and preventive actions.
- Maintain incident logs and assist in analyzing data for trends and improvements.
Environmental Compliance:
- Help ensure compliance with environmental regulations by monitoring waste management and pollution control practices.
- Participate in initiatives to promote eco-friendly practices, such as resource conservation and recycling.
- Assist in preparing environmental compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Training and Awareness:
- Support the delivery of safety training programs for employees, ensuring they understand organizational safety policies.
- Promote awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards through communication and engagement.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training sessions.
- Assist in preparing HSE performance reports for review by senior engineers or management.
- Ensure documentation complies with organizational and regulatory standards.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of health, safety, and environmental principles and regulations.
- Familiarity with risk assessment techniques and hazard identification processes.
- Awareness of safety equipment and procedures for handling emergencies.
- Strong organizational and observational skills to identify potential issues.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certification in basic HSE practices or awareness (e.g., OSHA General Safety Certificate, NEBOSH Safety Awareness Certificate) is an advantage.
Key Focus Areas:
- Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Assisting in monitoring and ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards in process control systems.
- SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Supporting HSE efforts by helping to monitor safety protocols for SCADA-integrated systems in pipeline management.
- Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Learning and supporting the implementation and testing of safety and emergency shutdown systems to minimize risks.
- Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Assisting in ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations through inspections, audits, and proper documentation.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to HSE practices are beneficial.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with safety monitoring tools and equipment.
- Exposure to basic safety management software or reporting systems is a plus.
