Install gypsum board ceilings/bulkheads, suspended (T-grid) ceilings, and related framing, insulation, and access panels per approved drawings, specifications, and authority requirements, achieving required quality/tolerances and coordinating with services above ceiling—while accounting for Sharjah weather and traffic/logistics constraints.
Read IFC/shop drawings, ceiling layouts, levels, bulkhead details, access panel schedule, and coordination drawings with MEP.
Verify substrate readiness (embed channels/inserts, soffit condition, marked services, firestopping requirements).
Set out ceiling grid/gypsum framing using laser levels and control lines; mark cut-outs for diffusers, lights, sprinklers, and hatches.
Check materials against approvals (board type: regular/MR/FR; insulation density; channels/hangers; fixings).
Fix hangers/anchors to slab or structural members at specified spacing; install main and furring channels and perimeter angles with level control.
Build bulkheads, pelmets, light troughs, coffers, and feature edges to shop details; ensure straight arrises and radii as required.
Install gypsum boards with correct screw spacing, joint staggering, and expansion joints; fit T-grid tiles (mineral fiber/metal) true to line and level.
Provide and align access panels for MEP/FA/FF maintenance per schedule; ensure removable tiles near equipment.
Place acoustic/thermal insulation where specified; maintain fire-rating continuity (FR boards, sealants, backing strips).
Form accurate openings for downlights, linear lights, diffusers, sprinklers, detectors; reinforce edges as detailed.
Treat joints (tapes/compounds), internal/external corners (beads), control cracks by correct jointing sequence and curing; sand to paint-ready finish.
Protect finished ceilings from moisture, dust, and impact; maintain plenum cleanliness before close-up.
Adhere to method statements and ITPs; present work for MIR/WIR inspections.
Meet tolerances for level/flatness, alignment, joint visibility, and edge gaps around services.
Ensure fire/acoustic performance is not compromised at penetrations; coordinate with QA/QC for inspection records and redlines.
Comply with working-at-height controls (scaffolds/MEWPs), edge protection, tool lanyards.
Control silica/gypsum dust (cutting with extraction, masks/respirators); manage manual handling for boards.
Lock-out/tag-out near live electrical works; maintain housekeeping and safe access routes.
Installations to align with Sharjah Municipality approvals and Sharjah Civil Defense requirements where ceilings are part of fire compartments or escape routes (FR ratings, signage/visibility, firestopping at penetrations).
Coordinate MEP first/second fix completion and testing prior to ceiling close-up; ensure access panel locations match O&M needs.
Heat & Humidity:
Store boards flat in shaded, ventilated, dry areas; acclimatize before installation to reduce warping.
Schedule jointing/compound works during cooler hours; extend drying/curing times; avoid rapid forced drying that causes cracks.
Observe MOHRE summer midday break; provide hydration and shaded rest areas.
Dust/Sand:
Protect boards and plenum from dust; cover open ductwork; clean surfaces before jointing and painting.
Occasional Rain/Coastal Effects:
Prevent moisture exposure during transport/handling; use MR/FR-MR boards in wet rooms as specified; protect steel components from corrosion.
Traffic & Logistics:
Plan off-peak deliveries for long boards and channels; use banksmen for off-loading; stage materials close to work fronts without overloading slabs or blocking egress.
3–6 years ceiling/gypsum installation experience (UAE/GCC preferred) on low/mid-rise RC buildings.
Able to read shop drawings/levels and follow setting-out marks.
Skilled in metal framing, board fixing, joint treatment, T-grid installation, insulation placement, and access panel fitting.
Familiar with fire-rated and moisture-resistant systems and coordination around MEP/FA/FF.
Laser level, measuring tape, chalk line, drills/drivers, board lifter, aviation snips, saw/cutters with dust extraction, spatulas/taping knives, sanding tools, scaffolds/MEWPs, PPE (helmet, gloves, boots, goggles, respirator).
Accuracy of level/line and neat workmanship
Coordination with services and other finishes
Productivity and time management
Safety awareness and housekeeping
Material care and defect prevention (joint cracking, sagging)
First-time pass rate on WIRs; minimal rework/snags.
Ceiling levelness/flatness within tolerance; clean, invisible joints post-paint.
Joint crack rate within target during DLP; correct access panel locations 100%.
Productivity (m²/day) achieved vs. target; adherence to programme.
Zero lost-time incidents; compliance with midday break and site traffic plan.
