Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Global Head of Aerospace Instrumentation and Safety Systems is responsible for the worldwide leadership and strategic direction of aircraft instrumentation and safety systems across all aerospace platforms. This role oversees the design, development, certification, and lifecycle performance of flight-critical sensors, displays, recording systems, and onboard safety technologies to ensure compliance, innovation, and mission assurance.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Instrumentation Systems Leadership – Oversee the global strategy and technical roadmap for cockpit instrumentation, sensor suites, and data acquisition systems.

  • Flight Safety Technology Oversight – Lead development of safety-critical systems such as flight data recorders, terrain awareness systems, stall protection, and crash-survivable avionics.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Certification – Ensure systems meet global aviation safety standards including FAA, EASA, DO-178C, DO-254, and ED-112A (for flight recorders).

  • Cross-Program Integration – Coordinate instrumentation and safety system integration across civil, military, and unmanned aerospace programs.

  • Innovation & Research Management – Drive global R&D in emerging areas such as AI-enabled health monitoring, next-gen cockpit interfaces, and integrated safety analytics.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the global instrumentation and safety systems strategy aligned with product and platform roadmaps.

  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams across regions to deliver safe, certifiable, and innovative system architectures.

  • Develop policies for safety system testing, validation, verification, and airworthiness demonstration.

  • Guide investment decisions and partnerships related to sensors, avionics displays, crash protection, and predictive safety tools.

  • Serve as primary technical authority in external engagements with certification authorities, accident investigation bodies, and industry alliances.

  • Establish performance KPIs and drive continuous improvement in instrumentation and system reliability across platforms.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Electrical Engineering, or Safety Engineering.

  • 15+ years of experience in aerospace instrumentation and safety systems, including global or multi-site leadership roles.

  • Deep knowledge of avionics integration, sensor networks, and safety-critical software/hardware compliance.

  • Familiarity with major OEM platforms and industry standards such as ARINC 429/661, DO-178C/DO-254, ED-112A, and ARP4754A.
