We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Gas Turbine Performance Engineer to lead the evaluation, diagnostics, and optimization of gas turbine performance across large-scale industrial or power generation operations. This role is critical in supporting reliability, output efficiency, degradation mitigation, and root cause resolution through advanced thermodynamic analysis and real-time performance monitoring.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with gas turbine modeling, performance testing, data analytics, and collaboration with OEMs and plant stakeholders.
Lead comprehensive assessments of real-time and historical gas turbine performance data (EGT, power output, heat rate, fuel efficiency).
Identify and quantify performance degradations (e.g., compressor fouling, blade erosion, combustion instability).
Track KPIs such as ISO corrected output, EGT margin, and part-load performance efficiency across multiple units.
Develop and validate thermodynamic models using OEM and third-party tools (e.g., GateCycle, Thermoflex, GT PRO, or OEM simulators).
Analyze part-load and off-design operation to recommend optimization strategies (e.g., inlet conditioning, water injection, variable stator vane adjustments).
Drive performance improvement programs including tuning interventions, hardware upgrades, and control modifications.
Plan and lead gas turbine performance tests post-overhaul, control logic updates, major maintenance events, or upgrades.
Develop performance testing protocols in line with ASME PTC standards and OEM requirements.
Analyze test results, validate guarantees, and interface with OEMs for acceptance testing or dispute resolution.
Apply data analytics and trending tools (PI System, Power BI, MATLAB/Python) to identify anomalies, model deviations, and predictive indicators.
Contribute to digital twin integration and performance dashboard development for real-time insights.
Support RCA efforts related to performance-related failures, derates, or operational inefficiencies.
Recommend preventive and corrective actions in collaboration with reliability and maintenance teams.
Prepare detailed technical reports, executive summaries, and recommendations based on test results and performance analysis.
Present findings to leadership, asset managers, OEMs, and regulatory bodies when required.
Collaborate with plant operations, controls, maintenance, and engineering teams for aligned performance goals.
Liaise with OEMs (GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Solar, etc.) for technical resolutions, upgrades, and performance guarantees.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Thermal Sciences required.
Master’s degree or certifications in Power Plant Performance, Thermal Systems, or Rotating Equipment Engineering preferred.
7+ years of direct experience in gas turbine performance engineering, preferably in combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or industrial power environments.
Hands-on experience with major OEMs (GE Frame 6/7/9, Siemens SGT, MHPS, Solar, etc.).
Expert knowledge of gas turbine thermodynamics, degradation mechanisms, combustion systems, and auxiliary effects on performance.
Tools: GateCycle, Thermoflex, PI System, MATLAB, Python, Power BI, OEM performance tools (e.g., GE Toolbox/STAD).
Familiarity with ASME PTC test codes, condition monitoring systems, and instrumentation for performance testing.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Clear technical communication and reporting abilities
Leadership and mentoring mindset
Ability to collaborate across disciplines and lead cross-functional initiatives
