Install, test/commission, and maintain building gas supply systems (typically LPG; NG if available) and the Fire & Gas safety interfaces (gas detection, ESD/solenoids, ventilation interlocks, kitchen hood suppression where specified), ensuring full compliance with project specifications, the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, and authority/vendor standards—delivered safely, on programme, and with complete documentation.
Central or cylinder-bank LPG system (or NG if available), regulators (1st/2nd stage), PRS (if provided), meters.
Piping: carbon steel/CS (threaded/welded) or approved materials with identification/painting, sleeves, and firestopping.
Safety & Controls: gas detection panel, LPG/NG sensors, ESD push buttons, shut-off solenoid valves, ventilation fans, interlocks to FA/BMS (if any).
Appliance connections: certified flexible connectors, isolation valves, labeling.
Ancillaries: vents/drip legs, pressure gauges, relief valves, earthing/bonding, signage.
Kitchen hood suppression (UL-type) interfaces where specified.
Review IFC/shop drawings, schematics, and cause-&-effect; raise RFIs for conflicts.
Verify builder’s works: sleeves, wall/roof penetrations, equipment plinths, ventilation openings for cylinder/PRS rooms, drainage, electrical isolation points.
Coordinate with Electrical/FA for power, interlocks, and panel terminations; with Civil for supports/firestopping; with Kitchen vendor for appliance points.
Install piping to approved routes, supports, and clearances; maintain separation from ignition sources and electrical services as specified.
Fit regulators, filters, meters, vents, drip legs, reliefs, and isolation/ESD valves; ensure flow direction, accessibility, and labeling.
Mount gas detectors at correct heights (LPG low level; NG high level, as specified) and within stated coverage; route cabling in suitable containment.
Set up ESD stations, warning signage, and mechanical ventilation/extraction in cylinder/PRS rooms and kitchens per drawings.
Provide bonding/earthing of metallic piping and equipment as required.
Conduct strength & tightness tests (dry nitrogen/air) to specified pressures and durations; perform soap leak tests; record results.
Purge safely using approved procedures; verify pressure settings on regulators.
Commission gas detection panel: addressing, calibration, alarm setpoints, sounder/beacon checks.
Test interlocks: detector/ESD → solenoid shut-off → FA/BMS signals → ventilation fan start/door releases (where applicable).
Witness and record integrated cause-&-effect with Fire Alarm and kitchen suppression (if in scope).
Maintain MIR/WIR, pressure test certificates, calibration sheets, detector locations/IDs, as-built mark-ups, and tag lists.
Contribute to O&M manuals, training for FM staff (leak checks, ESD use, panel basics), and spare-parts lists.
Support SCD/consultant inspections to final approval/activation.
Perform routine inspections: detector calibration, ESD function, regulator/PRV checks, leak scans, ventilation status, cylinder/PRS room housekeeping.
Respond to alarms/faults; diagnose and rectify promptly; update logs.
Enforce hot-work controls, gas-freeing and atmosphere testing where required; no smoking/ignition sources.
LOTO for electrical/ESD works; intrinsically safe practices where specified.
Safe cylinder handling, secure storage, and compliant ventilation; maintain clear egress and signage.
Heat & Humidity:
Schedule roof/PRS/cylinder-room tasks early morning/evening; comply with MOHRE summer midday break.
Verify ventilation and temperature limits for panels/regulators; expect longer sealant/adhesive cure times; protect detectors/electronics from direct sun.
Dust/Sand:
Keep detectors, vents, and regulators clean; cap open lines; replace/clean filters before T&C; protect flexible connectors and valves from grit.
Occasional Rain/Coastal Influence:
Weatherproof external junctions and enclosures; ensure drainage and corrosion protection; use corrosion-resistant fixings where specified.
Traffic & Logistics:
Plan off-peak deliveries for cylinders/equipment; arrange SRTA/Police permits if curbside access is affected; provide banksmen; keep routes clear and avoid overloading slabs during staging.
ITI/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation (or equivalent).
5–8 years UAE/GCC experience installing and commissioning LPG/NG systems with Fire & Gas interfaces on building projects.
Familiar with UAE Fire & Life Safety requirements and relevant international standards (e.g., NFPA/EN as specified in the project).
Able to read drawings/schematics, complete pressure-test records and calibration logs; basic English (Arabic/Urdu/Hindi an advantage).
Vendor/authority training for gas detection panels and regulators preferred; valid UAE driving license is an advantage.
Pressure test kits (calibrated gauges), nitrogen cylinders/regulator, leak-detection solution, multimeter/insulation tester, gas detector calibrator/bump-test kit, crimpers/threaders/welding gear (as permitted), torque wrenches, labeler, purge rig, hand tools, PPE (anti-static where specified), portable ventilation fan.
