As a QA Manager / Lead QA / QA Director, you will lead the overall Quality Assurance strategy across game projects or studio-wide initiatives. This role is critical in driving the vision, scalability, and operational excellence of QA teams. You’ll oversee multiple projects, manage QA personnel and budgets, and serve as the primary voice for quality in leadership-level decision-making.
Define and execute the global QA strategy across one or more game titles or the entire studio.
Lead and manage cross-functional QA teams, including testers, analysts, and QA engineers.
Collaborate with production, engineering, design, and executive leadership to align quality goals with development timelines.
Oversee QA resource allocation, budgeting, staffing, and scheduling to support multi-platform development.
Build, standardize, and optimize QA workflows, including test planning, bug tracking, risk management, and reporting.
Drive the development and adoption of automated testing frameworks and tooling improvements to scale QA coverage.
Champion QA in leadership meetings, product planning sessions, and release readiness assessments.
Maintain high standards for certification, compliance, and performance testing across platforms (console, mobile, PC, cloud).
8+ years of experience in software/game QA, including 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven track record overseeing QA for AAA, mobile, or live service titles, from pre-production through live operations.
Strong project management skills, with experience handling complex schedules, budgets, and multi-team coordination.
Deep understanding of quality metrics, release management, and risk analysis.
Hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and live deployment workflows.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to represent QA at the leadership level.
Expertise with QA management platforms: JIRA, TestRail, DevTrack, Bugzilla.
Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Unity Test Framework, Unreal Automation Tool) and custom pipelines.
Experience managing QA workflows integrated with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or similar.
Strong understanding of version control systems like Perforce, Git, or SVN.
Working knowledge of game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and build systems.
Knowledge of platform certification requirements (Sony TRC, Xbox XR, Nintendo Lotcheck, etc.).
