Job Title: Expert Level Game Designer(Lead/Expert/Principal)

Summary:

As a Lead or Principal Game Designer, you will be a visionary and strategic leader responsible for defining and driving the game’s overall design pillars. You will oversee the design team, shape high-level design direction, and ensure the delivery of cohesive, innovative, and high-quality player experiences across the entire project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, communicate, and uphold the game’s overall design vision, core pillars, and player experience goals.

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of designers at all levels, fostering professional growth and collaboration.

  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, art, narrative, and executive leadership to align design goals with business objectives.

  • Make critical decisions on game systems design, user experience, player engagement, and retention strategies.

  • Advocate and represent the game’s design direction both internally within the company and externally with partners or community stakeholders.

  • Drive innovation by staying informed on industry trends, player behavior, and emerging technologies.

  • Ensure design consistency, scalability, and quality across all game features and content.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional experience in the game industry, with proven leadership on multiple shipped titles.

  • Deep expertise in game design theory, systems thinking, player psychology, and market trends.

  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills with a demonstrated ability to manage and inspire design teams.

  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of articulating complex design concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Strategic mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and a track record of translating creative visions into actionable, executable plans.

  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, balancing creative ambition with production realities.

Tools & Technical Skills:

  • Mastery of major game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity, including scripting and design tools.

  • Proficient with advanced design and collaboration platforms like Confluence, Miro, and JIRA.

  • Skilled in using analytics and telemetry tools (e.g., GameAnalytics, Unity Analytics) to inform design decisions.

  • Experience with version control systems such as Perforce or Git in large-scale projects.

  • Comfortable adopting new technologies and tools to improve team workflows and design quality.

Soft Skills:
