Job Title: Force Calibration Engineer
Job Summary:
The Mid-Level Force Calibration Engineer is responsible for independently performing and managing the calibration, testing, and maintenance of force measurement devices such as load cells, torque sensors, and force transducers. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing calibration processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Mid-Level Engineer also contributes to team development and supports large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibration and Testing:
- Conduct advanced calibration of force measurement devices, including load cells, force gauges, and torque transducers.
- Validate and certify the performance of force systems using tools like deadweight testers, hydraulic calibrators, and universal testing machines.
- Address and resolve calibration deviations, ensuring instruments meet accuracy requirements.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed and accurate calibration records, including logs, certificates, and reports in compliance with ISO 17025.
- Prepare and review calibration reports, providing insights and recommendations for process improvements.
- Assist in refining and updating calibration procedures to align with best practices and technological advancements.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform preventive maintenance on calibration tools and equipment to ensure consistent performance.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in force measurement systems, working independently or with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new tools and improve calibration workflows.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all calibration activities comply with industry standards such as ISO 17025, ISO 376, and NIST traceability.
- Follow and promote organizational safety protocols during calibration and testing tasks.
- Support internal and external audits by providing technical documentation and addressing compliance queries.
Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical growth.
- Collaborate with project teams on large-scale calibration initiatives to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- Act as a technical resource for complex calibration challenges and process improvements.
Process Optimization:
- Identify inefficiencies in calibration processes and propose solutions to improve accuracy and productivity.
- Stay updated on emerging calibration technologies and integrate advanced tools into existing workflows.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Comprehensive understanding of force measurement principles and devices, including load cells, torque sensors, and force analyzers.
- Proficiency in using advanced calibration equipment such as deadweight testers, force analyzers, and universal testing machines.
- Familiarity with quality standards and practices, such as ISO 17025, ISO 376, and ANSI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for handling complex calibration issues.
- Ability to manage multiple calibration projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Advanced certifications in force calibration or metrology (e.g., ISO 17025 training) are highly desirable.
Key Focus Areas:
Automated Manufacturing Systems (Robots, Conveyors, etc.)
- Managing the calibration and optimization of force measurement tools in automated manufacturing systems to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency.
Quality Control and Monitoring
- Developing and implementing advanced calibration procedures to support quality control, conducting detailed analyses to maintain compliance with industry standards.
SCADA and PLC Programming for Industrial Equipment
- Programming, integrating, and troubleshooting SCADA and PLC systems to enhance the functionality and precision of force calibration processes.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in force calibration or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex calibration tasks and lead process improvement initiatives.
Tools and Equipment:
- Advanced calibration tools such as deadweight testers, hydraulic and pneumatic force calibrators, universal testing machines, and force analyzers.
- Familiarity with calibration management software for scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
