Job Title: Force Calibration Engineer
Job Summary:
The Manager-Level Force Calibration Engineer is responsible for overseeing calibration operations for force measurement devices, including load cells, torque wrenches, pressure gauges, and dynamometers. This role involves leading a team of calibration engineers, managing projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving process improvements to maintain the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of calibration systems in alignment with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategies for managing force calibration operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational goals.
- Define team objectives, allocate resources, and set performance metrics to optimize calibration efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
Calibration Operations Oversight:
- Oversee the calibration, testing, and verification of force measurement devices to maintain traceable and accurate results.
- Lead efforts to standardize calibration processes and integrate advanced technologies for greater precision.
- Ensure the adherence to preventive maintenance schedules for calibration tools and equipment.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all calibration activities meet global regulatory standards, including ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, and other relevant industry standards.
- Prepare and participate in internal and external audits, maintaining documentation and certifications to support compliance.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in force calibration activities.
Team Management and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of calibration engineers and technicians, fostering professional development and technical expertise.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and implement targeted training programs for team members.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of calibration activities with a focus on quality and precision.
Project Management:
- Plan and execute large-scale force calibration projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the integration of calibration operations with other organizational processes.
- Report project outcomes, risks, and achievements to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Research and implement emerging calibration technologies, including automation and AI-based predictive maintenance tools.
- Drive initiatives to optimize workflows, reduce costs, and improve calibration accuracy.
- Stay updated on advancements in force calibration standards, techniques, and tools to maintain industry leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders regarding calibration processes and improvements.
- Communicate calibration program updates, compliance requirements, and performance metrics to organizational leadership.
- Address operational challenges and provide solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Expertise in force calibration principles and techniques, including working with load cells, dynamometers, torque wrenches, and similar devices.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, and traceability requirements.
- Proficiency with advanced calibration tools, such as force gauges, precision weights, and torque transducers.
- Strong project management skills, including resource allocation, risk management, and performance monitoring.
- Leadership and organizational skills to manage teams and complex calibration operations effectively.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, Metrology, or a related technical field.
- Advanced certifications in calibration (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, Metrology Technician Certification) or project management (e.g., PMP) are preferred.
Key Focus Areas:
Automated Manufacturing Systems
- Managing and optimizing calibration processes for force measurement devices integrated with robots, conveyors, and other automated manufacturing systems.
Quality Control and Monitoring
- Overseeing the implementation of quality assurance frameworks for force calibration, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards.
SCADA and PLC Programming
- Leading the integration and validation of SCADA and PLC systems in force calibration setups, ensuring accurate monitoring and control of industrial equipment.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in calibration and metrology, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing force calibration operations and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Tools and Technologies:
- Proficiency with calibration tools, such as force transducers, torque analyzers, and software for calibration management.
- Familiarity with automation tools and predictive maintenance technologies in calibration operations.
