Job Title: Flow Calibration Engineer
Job Summary:
The Senior Flow Calibration Engineer is responsible for leading complex calibration, testing, and maintenance of flow measurement devices such as flow meters, turbine meters, and Coriolis meters. This role involves addressing advanced technical challenges, optimizing workflows, and ensuring compliance with international standards. The Senior Engineer also mentors junior staff, manages calibration projects, and drives process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibration and Testing:
- Perform and oversee advanced calibration of flow instruments, including ultrasonic, vortex, and thermal flow meters, using precision calibration rigs.
- Validate and certify the performance of flow systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 and other industry standards.
- Address and resolve complex calibration issues and implement corrective actions for non-conformities.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and review detailed calibration records, test data, and compliance reports.
- Develop and refine calibration procedures to align with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders based on calibration results and trends.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Supervise and perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics of calibration equipment such as flow rigs, master meters, and data acquisition systems.
- Resolve advanced technical issues in flow measurement systems, conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
- Recommend upgrades or replacements for aging or inefficient calibration equipment.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all calibration activities comply with international standards such as ISO 17025, OIML, and API.
- Act as a technical representative during internal and external audits, addressing quality and compliance queries.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and reliability of flow calibration processes.
Leadership and Team Development:
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and training on advanced calibration techniques.
- Lead cross-functional teams on calibration-related projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the calibration team.
Process Optimization and Innovation:
- Evaluate and optimize calibration workflows to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in flow calibration and integrate best practices into operations.
- Drive innovation by implementing advanced tools, such as IoT-enabled calibration systems or automated flow rigs.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Extensive knowledge of flow measurement principles and devices, including turbine meters, Coriolis meters, ultrasonic meters, and differential pressure flow meters.
- Proficiency in advanced calibration tools such as master meters, precision flow rigs, and transfer standards.
- Strong analytical skills for diagnosing complex calibration challenges and interpreting large datasets.
- Comprehensive understanding of quality systems and international standards, including ISO 17025 and OIML guidelines.
- Project management skills to handle multiple calibration projects simultaneously.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Advanced certifications in flow calibration or metrology (e.g., ISO 17025 Lead Auditor, Certified Calibration Technician) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in flow calibration, with a proven track record of managing complex systems and projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in team development and process optimization.

- Precision Instrumentation for Navigation, Communications, and Control: Directing the calibration and integration of precision flow instrumentation systems for navigation, communication, and control, ensuring high reliability, precision, and system performance in flight operations.
- Innovation and System Optimization: Driving innovation in flow calibration techniques and technologies, optimizing existing systems to improve measurement accuracy, system efficiency, and operational performance.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Leading a team of calibration engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring, ensuring best practices in calibration are followed, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Ensuring all flow measurement systems comply with international aviation standards (FAA, EASA) and regulatory requirements, leading audits, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborating with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to align flow calibration strategies with business objectives and ensuring transparent reporting on system performance and improvements.
Tools and Equipment:
- High-precision calibration tools, including master meters, flow rigs, and automated calibration systems.
