Job Title: Flow Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Flow Calibration Engineer is responsible for independently performing calibration, testing, and maintenance of flow measurement devices such as flow meters, turbine meters, and Coriolis meters. This role involves troubleshooting complex calibration issues, optimizing workflows, and ensuring compliance with international standards and organizational protocols. The Mid-Level Engineer contributes to process improvements and supports team development.

Key Responsibilities:

Calibration and Testing:

  • Perform advanced calibration of flow measurement devices, including ultrasonic, Coriolis, and vortex flow meters, using standard calibration rigs and master meters.
  • Validate and verify the performance of flow systems against international standards, ensuring measurement accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve calibration deviations, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed calibration records, including test results, certificates, and compliance reports.
  • Generate calibration reports and provide insights to stakeholders for process optimization.
  • Refine and update calibration procedures to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on flow calibration equipment, such as flow rigs, transfer standards, and master meters.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in flow measurement devices and systems with minimal supervision.
  • Support the integration of new tools and methods into existing calibration processes.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure calibration activities comply with international standards such as ISO 17025, OIML, and AGA guidelines.
  • Adhere to organizational safety protocols and promote a culture of safety in calibration operations.
  • Participate in audits and inspections, addressing non-conformities and implementing corrective measures.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on calibration-related projects, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Lead small-scale projects or teams during calibration activities.

Process Optimization:

  • Evaluate existing calibration workflows and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay updated on emerging flow calibration technologies and implement best practices in operations.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Comprehensive understanding of flow measurement principles and devices, including turbine meters, differential pressure meters, and Coriolis flow meters.
  • Proficiency in using calibration tools such as master meters, flow rigs, and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with quality standards, including ISO 17025, and their application in flow calibration processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve issues in flow measurement devices and calibration systems.
  • Attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certification in flow calibration or metrology (e.g., ISO 17025 training) is highly desirable.

  • Avionics and Flight Control Systems: Managing the calibration and optimization of flow measurement systems within avionics and flight control systems, ensuring accuracy and reliability for safe and efficient aircraft operation.
  • Safety and Emergency Systems for Aircraft: Overseeing the calibration, testing, and maintenance of flow systems used in aircraft safety and emergency systems, ensuring they perform reliably during critical situations.
  • Precision Instrumentation for Navigation, Communications, and Control: Leading the calibration and performance optimization of precision flow instrumentation used for navigation, communications, and control, ensuring high levels of measurement accuracy.
  • System Integration and Process Improvement: Driving improvements in calibration processes, working with cross-functional teams to integrate flow systems into broader aviation systems while enhancing performance and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Leading troubleshooting efforts for flow measurement systems, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Ensuring that all calibration activities comply with aviation industry standards and regulations, maintaining accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and reporting.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in flow calibration or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex calibration tasks and troubleshoot technical issues independently.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Advanced calibration tools, including master meters, flow rigs, transfer standards, and flow conditioners.
  • Calibration management software for data logging, scheduling, and reporting.
