Job Title: Flow Calibration Engineer
Job Summary:
The Junior Flow Calibration Engineer is responsible for performing routine calibration, testing, and maintenance of flow measurement devices, including flow meters, turbine meters, and ultrasonic sensors. This role requires technical proficiency to execute calibration tasks with minimal supervision while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Junior Engineer contributes to the accuracy and reliability of flow measurement systems within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibration and Testing:
- Conduct routine calibration of flow meters, turbine meters, and other flow measurement instruments using standard calibration equipment.
- Test and validate flow systems to ensure performance meets required specifications and standards.
- Identify and address minor calibration discrepancies or errors during testing procedures.
Documentation:
- Record calibration results, maintain detailed logs, and prepare calibration certificates.
- Ensure all documentation complies with ISO 17025 and organizational quality standards.
- Assist in updating calibration procedures and manuals as needed.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform preventive maintenance on flow calibration tools and equipment such as flow rigs and master meters.
- Support troubleshooting of flow measurement devices to resolve routine operational issues.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols and organizational guidelines during all calibration activities.
- Ensure calibration activities comply with international standards such as ISO 17025 and OIML guidelines.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams on calibration-related tasks and projects.
- Contribute to team discussions and offer input on potential process improvements.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of flow measurement principles and devices, including differential pressure meters, turbine meters, and Coriolis flow meters.
- Familiarity with calibration tools such as master meters, flow rigs, and data acquisition systems.
- Attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in calibration processes.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to address common issues in flow measurement systems.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certification in flow calibration or metrology is an advantage but not mandatory.
Key Focus Areas:
- Avionics and Flight Control Systems: Assisting in the calibration and maintenance of flow measurement systems within avionics and flight control systems to ensure accurate flow data and system performance.
- Safety and Emergency Systems for Aircraft: Supporting the calibration and testing of flow systems used in safety and emergency systems, ensuring that flow measurement equipment functions correctly during critical flight situations.
- Precision Instrumentation for Navigation, Communications, and Control: Assisting in the calibration, installation, and maintenance of flow instrumentation systems used in navigation, communication, and control applications to ensure precise and reliable measurements.
- System Troubleshooting and Support: Helping with basic troubleshooting of flow measurement systems, working closely with senior engineers to identify and resolve calibration or performance issues.
- Documentation and Reporting: Contributing to the documentation of calibration processes, test results, and compliance reports to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in flow calibration or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with calibration tools and flow measurement equipment is preferred.
Tools and Equipment:
- Calibration tools such as master meters, flow rigs, and transfer standards.
- Knowledge of calibration management software is an added advantage.
