Flight Control Supervisor

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Flight Control Supervisor supports the installation, integration, and validation of mechanical and electronic flight control systems. This role assists in supervising field technicians and coordinating with engineering teams to ensure that control surfaces, actuators, and linkages are installed and tested according to aviation standards and system specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Installation Supervision:
Assist in supervising the installation of primary and secondary flight control components such as actuators, servos, cables, linkages, and control surfaces (e.g., ailerons, rudders, elevators).

  • Documentation and Drawing Use:
Work with engineering drawings, mechanical assembly instructions, and wire routing diagrams to support control system assembly.

  • Inspection & Validation:
Support pre-functional checks including rigging verification, continuity testing, travel limits, and free movement verification of flight control mechanisms.

  • Field Team Coordination:
Provide on-site direction and support to technicians for mechanical and electrical installation tasks under supervision of senior staff.

  • Safety & Compliance:
Enforce adherence to safety standards and procedures during flight control system installation and testing.

  • Reporting & Feedback:
Maintain installation checklists, record deviations, and communicate integration issues to engineers or senior supervisors.

  • Learning & Development:
Shadow senior supervisors and engineers to build foundational knowledge in flight control systems, materials, and integration logic.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Mechanical Flight Control Understanding:
Gain experience in the function and integration of flight-critical components such as control rods, hinges, pulleys, and actuators.

  2. Electrical and Avionic Interfacing Basics:
Learn the basics of how electronic flight control systems (e.g., FBW, fly-by-light) interface with sensors and flight computers.

  3. Hands-On Supervision Support:
Act as a support lead for work package execution on the production floor, ensuring alignment with process instructions and schedules.

  4. Process Discipline:
Understand and follow standard aerospace work instructions (SOPs), quality procedures, and safety protocols.

  5. Team Communication:
Build skills in field coordination, issue escalation, and daily reporting in a structured aerospace production or integration environment.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

  • 0–2 years of hands-on experience in aerospace production, flight control installation, or a related domain.

  • Basic understanding of flight control system components and their function.

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and interest in aircraft systems.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
