The Senior Field Service Technician – HVAC Units leads the execution of HVAC service, maintenance, repair, and minor installation work for a variety of equipment including split systems, ductable units, VRF/VRV, rooftop units, and small chillers. This role serves as the technical lead for field service teams, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency, while also being a key point of contact for client support and troubleshooting complex issues.
Independently execute and supervise preventive maintenance activities for HVAC systems.
Perform system inspections, refrigerant analysis, filter replacements, coil cleaning, belt alignments, and fan motor servicing.
Ensure service checklists, maintenance logs, and test reports are accurately completed and submitted.
Identify and resolve HVAC issues such as:
Cooling inefficiency, abnormal sounds, refrigerant leaks, electrical faults, control malfunctions.
Use advanced tools such as:
Leak detectors, digital gauges, clamp meters, insulation testers, thermal imaging (optional).
Perform root cause analysis and offer cost-effective solutions.
Supervise or assist in installing mid-size HVAC units (VRFs, packaged systems).
Conduct refrigerant charging, pressure testing, and system startup commissioning.
Verify proper airflow, controls integration, and system functionality during handover.
Provide on-site technical advice to clients and explain the cause of issues and preventive measures.
Maintain high service quality and customer satisfaction.
Complete job documentation, service reports, time sheets, and material usage logs.
Support junior technicians through on-the-job training, supervision, and performance feedback.
Lead on-site safety briefings and toolbox talks.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standard service procedures.

Diploma / ITI in HVAC or Mechanical Engineering.
6–10 years of experience servicing HVAC equipment in field roles.
Deep knowledge of:
VRF/VRV systems
Split and ducted units
Rooftop packaged systems
Small air-cooled chillers
Familiar with electrical troubleshooting, relay/control boards, and motor systems.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and HVAC schematics.
Good understanding of refrigerant cycle, controls logic, and system balancing.
Skilled in report writing, basic computing (MS Excel / CMMS apps), and customer communication.
Tools: Manifold gauge set, recovery unit, vacuum pump, multimeter, amp clamp, leak detector, refrigerant scale, pipe cutter.
Software (if applicable): Mobile job tracking tools, CMMS (SAP, Maximo), or OEM diagnostic tools.
