Job Summary:

The FAT/SAT Test Engineer – I&C Systems (Mid-Level) is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) of control panels, field instrumentation, and automation systems. This role ensures that systems meet technical specifications, functional performance, and compliance requirements before handover to operations or commissioning teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review detailed FAT/SAT procedures, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and checklists for instrumentation and control systems.

  • Lead and perform I/O checks, loop testing, calibration verification, and logic validation for PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.

  • Coordinate with OEMs, system integrators, contractors, and client representatives to conduct test sessions.

  • Ensure correct installation, configuration, and integration of transmitters, actuators, control panels, and signal communication lines.

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies during testing, prepare punch lists, and track resolution of issues.

  • Document all test results, deviations, corrective actions, and final acceptance reports.

  • Ensure instrumentation data sheets, loop folders, I/O lists, and control narratives are followed accurately.

  • Support handover documentation and ensure traceability of test results to project QA/QC standards.

  • Ensure testing activities comply with industry codes (ISA, IEC, etc.) and HSE protocols.

  • Provide guidance to junior engineers or technicians during test execution.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Diploma in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering

  • 4–7 years of experience in FAT/SAT testing or commissioning of I&C systems in large industrial projects

  • Hands-on experience with PLC/DCS platforms (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, Rockwell) and instrumentation diagnostics

  • Proficient in reading P&IDs, loop diagrams, control logic documents, and wiring schematics

  • Familiar with QA/QC documentation standards and handover protocols

  • Strong technical and diagnostic skills in control systems and instrumentation

  • Excellent documentation and reporting abilities

  • Ability to manage vendor and stakeholder coordination during test phases

  • Good understanding of testing tools and calibration standards

  • Attention to safety, detail, and compliance
