Build durable, level, and well-drained external hardscapes—walkways, parking bays, ramps, kerbs, drop-kerbs, tactile paving, planters’ edgings, and service surrounds—meeting drawings, specifications, and authority requirements, delivered safely and on programme under Sharjah’s climate and site logistics.
Take levels from survey/benchmarks; set falls and crossfalls to drawings (typ. 1–2% unless noted).
Excavate to formation; proof-roll and rectify soft spots; install geotextile where specified.
Place and compact sub-base to required thickness and density (as per ITP/spec); maintain edges and level tolerance.
Bed and align kerbs/edgings to string line and datum; form radii neatly; provide expansion/isolation joints as detailed.
Build up to gullies/trenches/manholes with correct frames/levels; ensure flush transitions (no trip hazards) and clean outlets.
Screed bedding sand/mortar to rails; protect from trafficking and contamination.
Lay pavers/flags to approved pattern (herringbone/stretcher/etc.) with tight uniform joints; use spacers where provided.
Cut with wet saw to maintain straight, chip-free edges; fit around boxes/poles/plants neatly; maintain edge restraints.
Compact with vibrating plate (with polyurethane mat for concrete/stone pavers); refill joints with kiln-dried/polymeric sand or grout/mortar as specified; re-compact and top up.
Clean surfaces; apply sealers where specified; protect fresh works from early trafficking.
Work to method statements/ITPs; present works for WIR inspections.
Check tolerances: line/level, evenness/lippage, joint width, alignment, falls to drains, tactile tile locations.
Keep area tallies, delivery tickets, and photographic records of concealed layers; update redline as-builts.
Coordinate with MEP for ducts/handholes and lighting bases before final paving; ensure sleeves/marker tapes are visible as required.
Barricade and sign no-traffic zones until handover; protect adjacent finishes/landscaping.
Follow Traffic Management Plan; work behind barriers with banksmen near live roads/parking.
Control silica dust (wet-cutting/extraction), noise, and manual handling (team lifts, clamps).
Use PPE; safe operation of compactors and cutters; maintain clean, trip-free work fronts.
Heat & Humidity
Schedule excavation/compaction and heavy handling early morning/evening; comply with MOHRE summer midday break.
Shade stockpiles; keep bedding/jointing materials dry and within temperature limits; expect faster moisture loss—work smaller bays to maintain quality.
Avoid placing on overheated substrates that can flash-dry bedding/mortar; allow for thermal movement at edges/joints.
Dust/Sand
Cover bedding/jointing sand; sweep joints after wind gusts; clean bonding faces before sealing or grouting; keep drainage points free of debris.
Occasional Rain/Flash Water
Do not lay on saturated bedding; protect fresh joints from rain; recheck levels after storms; ensure positive falls and clear overflow routes.
Traffic & Access
Plan off-peak deliveries for pavers/kerbs; use banksmen/fork attachments; arrange SRTA/Police permits if curbside unloading affects public roads.
Maintain pedestrian detours and accessible ramps during works; keep fire/ambulance access clear.
5–8 years external paving/kerb installation (UAE/GCC preferred).
Skilled in screeding, pattern laying, wet-cutting, compaction, and tolerance control.
Able to read drawings/levels; basic English for coordination (Arabic/Urdu/Hindi an advantage).
Laser level/auto level, string lines & pins, plate compactor (mat), small roller (as needed), screed rails/boards, wet-cut saw with water feed, rubber mallet, jointing sand/polymeric sand tools, trowels/floats, shovels/rakes, wheelbarrows, edge clamps, safety barriers & signage, PPE.
Accurate falls & levels and neat detailing around services
Tight joints, minimal lippage, clean cuts and patterns
Drainage awareness (no ponding), tidy jointing/sealing
Safe work near traffic and strong housekeeping
Documentation discipline (ITPs, WIRs, as-builts)
First-time pass on consultant inspections; level/evenness within spec.
Zero ponding after water test/rain; tactile/ramps positioned per drawings.
Snags closed within SLA; no trip hazards at handover; low DLP call-backs.
Programme adherence for zones/bays; zero HSE major incidents.
