Roles & Responsibilities

The Executive Program Manager – Marine Mechanical Projects is responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering high-value marine mechanical engineering programs, including propulsion systems, HVAC, piping, and auxiliary machinery installations. This role oversees multi-disciplinary teams and manages all phases of program execution, from planning and budgeting through execution and delivery, ensuring technical excellence, cost control, and adherence to client requirements and industry standards (ABS, NAVSEA, DNV, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the full lifecycle management of large-scale marine mechanical projects across commercial, naval, or offshore platforms.

    • Develop strategic program plans including scope, schedules, resource allocation, risk management, and budget control.

    • Oversee engineering teams handling the design, integration, and commissioning of marine mechanical systems including propulsion, piping networks, HVAC, and auxiliary systems.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, classification societies, shipyards, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of goals and expectations.

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ABS, NAVSEA, IMO, SOLAS) and company policies.

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for project health; report progress, variances, and resolutions to senior leadership.

    • Lead contract negotiations, change management, and subcontractor coordination.

    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all project activities.

    • Guide risk assessments and mitigation strategies to resolve technical and logistical challenges.

    • Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance management to project teams and junior managers.

    • Program governance and strategic planning

    • Marine mechanical systems engineering oversight

    • Multi-vessel or fleet-wide modernization and upgrade programs

    • Budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization

    • Stakeholder management and regulatory compliance

    • Cross-functional coordination (engineering, procurement, planning, QC, commissioning)

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.

    • PMP certification or equivalent preferred.

    • 15+ years of experience in marine mechanical engineering and project management, with at least 5 years in a senior program or executive management role.

    • Proven track record managing complex shipbuilding, refit, or mechanical system integration projects.

    • Strong understanding of maritime regulations, codes, and industry standards.

    • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Preferred Experience:

    • Experience with naval defense programs or commercial shipyard operations.

    • Familiarity with ERP/project control software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP).

    • Prior work with classification societies or OEM marine system suppliers.

    • Exposure to international marine project execution and remote site management.
