Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Executive Director – Capital Equipment Lifecycle and Turbine Logistics is responsible for the end-to-end strategy, execution, and governance of logistics, handling, and lifecycle support for capital equipment—primarily large-scale rotating machinery such as gas and steam turbines, generators, and compressors. The role ensures equipment readiness, safe transport, operational longevity, and optimized lifecycle performance across capital projects, commissioning, operations, and refurbishment cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lifecycle Strategy & Governance

  • Define and oversee lifecycle strategies for capital equipment from factory readiness through installation, operation, refurbishment, and retirement.

  • Align lifecycle policies with asset integrity goals, maintenance programs, OEM requirements, and long-term operational performance targets.

2. Logistics & Heavy Equipment Movement

  • Lead planning and execution of multimodal logistics strategies for turbines and auxiliary equipment—including ocean freight, heavy haul, barge, rail, and SPMTs.

  • Manage rigging, handling, staging, preservation, and temporary storage in line with project schedules and technical specifications.

3. Project Integration

  • Serve as the executive interface between engineering, construction, procurement, logistics, and site operations to ensure equipment is delivered and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Drive readiness of capital equipment for commissioning and handover, ensuring integrity, availability, and regulatory compliance.

4. OEM & Vendor Oversight

  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with OEMs and major logistics service providers to ensure contractual, technical, and performance obligations are met.

  • Negotiate lifecycle service agreements (LTSA, LTMA) and logistics frameworks to support installation, maintenance, and refurbishment.

5. Asset Preservation & Operational Readiness

  • Implement asset preservation and inspection protocols during laydown, transport, storage, and long-lead project phases.

  • Oversee turbine component tracking, performance records, and parts rotation using digital asset management tools.

6. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Management

  • Lead a cross-functional team of lifecycle managers, logistics engineers, transport coordinators, and vendor relationship managers.

  • Drive alignment across capital project execution teams, O&M leaders, and asset owners.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Capital asset lifecycle planning for large rotating equipment (turbines, compressors, generators)

  • End-to-end logistics and rigging for over-dimensional and high-value machinery

  • Preservation, traceability, and long-term equipment integrity management

  • Integration with EPC schedules and long-lead procurement strategies

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or Asset Management (MBA or Master’s preferred)

  • Experience: 18+ years in capital equipment logistics, lifecycle asset management, or major industrial project delivery

  • Domain Expertise:

    • Strong technical understanding of gas/steam turbine systems and critical rotating equipment

    • Experience with multimodal transport and international logistics (Incoterms, HS codes, customs)

    • Proficiency in asset preservation, FAT coordination, and OEM warranty management

Preferred Certifications:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)

  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional)

  • CSCP (APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional)

  • NEBOSH or OSHA HSE certification (for rigging/logistics oversight)

Systems Knowledge:

  • SAP PM/MM/IBP, Oracle SCM, Maximo, or equivalent ERP/EAM platforms

  • Project controls tools (Primavera, MS Project)

  • Logistics and tracking systems (TMS, RFID, GPS-enabled tracking platforms)
