Job Title: Estimation Engineer

Job Summary:

The Junior Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects by analyzing technical specifications, material requirements, and labor costs. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing vendor quotations, and ensuring estimates align with client and project requirements. The Junior Engineer works with minimal supervision and contributes to the optimization of the estimation process.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation and Analysis:

  • Review and analyze project specifications, blueprints, and technical documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs using standardized methodologies and tools.
  • Evaluate vendor and supplier quotations to determine cost-effective solutions.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of cost estimates, material requirements, and vendor quotes.
  • Prepare cost breakdowns, proposals, and summaries for internal review and client submission.
  • Ensure documentation is compliant with organizational standards and industry regulations.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Coordinate with design engineers, project managers, and procurement teams to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to clarify technical details and obtain updated pricing information.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss cost-related challenges and provide input on budget considerations.

Process Improvement and Learning:

  • Identify opportunities to improve estimation processes and propose enhancements.
  • Stay updated on market trends, material prices, and labor rates to ensure accurate cost projections.
  • Attend training programs to enhance technical and estimation skills.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure cost estimates adhere to project requirements, industry standards, and organizational guidelines.
  • Verify the accuracy of estimates by cross-checking data with project specifications and historical records.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Proficiency in estimation principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess project requirements and determine cost-effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with estimation software (e.g., Primavera, CostX) and spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deliver accurate estimates on time.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
  • Certification or training in cost estimation or project management is preferred.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Assisting in the estimation of costs and resources required for process control systems in drilling, refining, and extraction operations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
  • SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Supporting the estimation process for SCADA systems, including evaluating material and labor costs for the installation and maintenance of systems used in pipeline management.
  • Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Contributing to cost estimations for safety and emergency shutdown systems, assisting in identifying components, labor, and equipment needed for installation and maintenance.
  • Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring cost estimates account for environmental and regulatory compliance, including any necessary permits, certifications, and mitigation measures that may impact project budgets.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in estimation or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with preparing cost estimates and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Estimation tools and software such as CostX, Primavera, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems is an advantage.
