Job Title: Estimation Engineer
Job Summary:
The Fresher Estimation Engineer is responsible for assisting in the preparation of cost estimates for projects by analyzing technical requirements and specifications. This role involves learning estimation techniques, supporting senior engineers in compiling accurate cost breakdowns, and ensuring alignment with client and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Analysis:
- Assist in collecting and analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and technical documentation to prepare preliminary cost estimates.
- Support the calculation of material, labor, and equipment costs under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Research and compile data on material prices, labor rates, and vendor quotes.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of cost estimates, material requirements, and pricing data.
- Prepare basic reports and summaries of cost estimates for review by senior engineers or management.
- Ensure that all documentation complies with organizational standards.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and procurement teams to understand project needs and scope.
- Support communication with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotations and technical details.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and cost-related challenges.
Compliance and Learning:
- Adhere to organizational policies and standards for estimation and cost reporting.
- Attend training programs to develop knowledge of estimation tools, techniques, and best practices.
- Gain familiarity with industry codes and regulations relevant to the estimation process.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of estimation principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Analytical and mathematical skills for performing cost calculations and data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software; familiarity with estimation software is a plus.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
- Training or coursework in cost estimation or project management is advantageous but not mandatory.
Key Focus Areas:
- Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Assisting in the estimation and cost analysis for process control systems used in drilling, refining, and extraction operations, ensuring accurate budgeting and resource allocation.
- SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Supporting the estimation of costs for SCADA systems, including hardware, software, and integration, while ensuring alignment with project requirements and safety standards.
- Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Assisting in estimating costs related to safety and emergency shutdown systems, including system components, installation, and maintenance.
- Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the estimation process includes compliance with environmental and regulatory standards, factoring in any additional costs related to compliance, permits, and regulations.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to estimation or project planning are beneficial.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with basic estimation tools and spreadsheet software.
- Exposure to specialized estimation software (e.g., Primavera, CostX) is an advantage.
