Job Title: Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Engineer
Job Summary:
The
Senior Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Engineer will take the lead in the design, implementation, optimization, and management of advanced enhanced oil recovery techniques to maximize hydrocarbon recovery from reservoirs. With significant experience in EOR processes like CO2 injection, water flooding, thermal recovery, and chemical flooding, this role involves providing high-level technical expertise, managing large-scale EOR projects, and mentoring junior engineers. The Senior EOR Engineer will oversee complex reservoir simulation models, field operations, and the integration of new EOR technologies, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with industry regulations and client objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership in EOR Process Design and Optimization:
- Lead the design and optimization of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes, tailoring strategies such as CO2 injection, water flooding, chemical flooding, and thermal recovery to maximize production from specific reservoirs.
- Oversee the development of comprehensive strategies to evaluate and select the most appropriate EOR techniques based on reservoir properties, production history, and economic factors.
- Continuously improve the application of EOR methods by incorporating new technologies, innovations, and best practices that enhance efficiency and recovery rates.

Reservoir Modeling and Simulation:
- Oversee the creation and interpretation of advanced reservoir simulation models using tools like CMG, Eclipse, and similar software to predict and optimize the results of EOR techniques.
- Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers to analyze reservoir data, including pressure, temperature, fluid properties, and production history, to enhance EOR models and predictions.
- Lead the process of simulation validation by comparing predicted results with field data, refining models and adjusting operational strategies accordingly.

Project Management and Execution:
- Manage large-scale EOR projects from inception through to execution, ensuring they meet performance, budget, and timeline objectives.
- Coordinate the execution of pilot tests, field trials, and full-scale operations, ensuring that all EOR methods are applied effectively to maximize reservoir recovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including drilling, production, and facilities engineering to ensure seamless project execution and integration into existing systems.

Field Operations and Pilot Testing:
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of pilot testing for new EOR techniques in the field, ensuring their effectiveness and scalability.
- Oversee the collection, monitoring, and analysis of field data to assess the effectiveness of EOR methods and make real-time adjustments to improve recovery.
- Troubleshoot complex field issues related to EOR implementation, providing technical guidance and innovative solutions to overcome challenges.

- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and support to foster their growth in EOR design and operations.
- Lead and participate in technical reviews, offering expert insights and feedback on the design, analysis, and implementation of EOR methods.

- Ensure that all EOR projects comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols and environmental safeguards to minimize the risks associated with EOR field operations and ensure the safety of personnel and the surrounding environment.
- Lead safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions to ensure a safe working environment during EOR project execution.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding the technical aspects of EOR projects, ensuring that their needs and objectives are met.
- Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and recommendations to clients, senior management, and other stakeholders.
- Address any client concerns or requests for modifications, providing technical solutions and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay current with industry trends, advancements in EOR technology, and new reservoir management practices, implementing relevant innovations in EOR projects.
- Identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing recovery rates, both in existing operations and new EOR initiatives.
- Lead efforts to evaluate emerging EOR techniques, pilot new technologies, and integrate cutting-edge approaches to improve the sustainability and profitability of EOR projects.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of all EOR designs, field trials, simulation results, and project reports for compliance, auditing, and future reference.
- Review and approve technical reports, including reservoir performance analyses, system performance metrics, and recommendations for future EOR interventions.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of all project changes, design modifications, and lessons learned.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Expertise in enhanced oil recovery methods, including CO2 injection, water flooding, thermal recovery, and chemical flooding.
- Extensive experience with reservoir modeling and simulation software (e.g., CMG, Eclipse) and applying these models to real-world reservoir challenges.
- Strong understanding of petroleum engineering principles, including reservoir engineering, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and production optimization.
- Proven project management experience, including budget control, scheduling, and team coordination for complex EOR projects.
- Deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations as they pertain to EOR projects.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers while maintaining strong team collaboration.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges in the field and in design.

Educational Qualifications:

Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in enhanced oil recovery, reservoir engineering, or related fields, with a focus on leading and managing EOR projects.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing successful EOR techniques in the field and optimizing production from mature reservoirs.
- Experience with advanced reservoir simulation software, field testing, and pilot project implementation.
Tools and Technologies:
- Expertise in using reservoir simulation tools such as CMG, Eclipse, and other related software for reservoir analysis and EOR project modeling.
- Familiarity with well testing, fluid sampling, and production data analysis equipment used in EOR field operations.
- Knowledge of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) to oversee and manage EOR project schedules and resources.
