Job Title: Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Engineer
Job Summary:
The
Junior Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and optimization of enhanced oil recovery techniques to maximize the extraction of oil from reservoirs. This role offers an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge gained through education into practical applications within the oil and gas industry. The Junior EOR Engineer will assist senior engineers with data analysis, system modeling, field testing, and performance monitoring of EOR techniques such as water flooding, CO2 injection, and thermal recovery methods.
Key Responsibilities:

EOR System Design and Development:
- Assist in designing enhanced oil recovery systems, including water flooding, CO2 injection, and thermal recovery.
- Support senior engineers in developing and refining technical specifications for EOR projects, ensuring designs meet operational goals and cost objectives.
- Contribute to the preparation of design drawings, system layouts, and configuration plans for pump systems, pipelines, and injection equipment.

Data Collection and Analysis:
- Assist in gathering and analyzing reservoir data such as pressure, temperature, and fluid properties to assess the potential for applying EOR techniques.
- Support in evaluating the performance of EOR systems by analyzing production and injection data, and making recommendations based on the findings.
- Learn how to use reservoir simulation software (e.g., CMG, Eclipse) to model and forecast the impact of different EOR strategies.

Pilot Testing and Field Support:
- Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of EOR pilot tests to evaluate the effectiveness of selected methods in the field.
- Help collect data from field operations, monitor equipment performance, and assist in troubleshooting technical issues during field testing.
- Work with field engineers to ensure that all equipment is set up according to the design specifications and that testing conditions align with project requirements.

EOR System Optimization and Improvement:
- Assist in evaluating existing EOR systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, production rates, or cost reduction.
- Help in analyzing the performance of ongoing EOR projects and assist in adjusting operational parameters to optimize recovery rates.
- Learn to integrate new techniques and technologies into EOR practices to improve recovery efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Technical Documentation and Reporting:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation for EOR projects, including design specifications, project reports, testing results, and operational manuals.
- Help document field observations and troubleshooting activities, ensuring all findings and modifications are recorded accurately.
- Contribute to preparing progress reports and presentations for senior engineers, project managers, and clients.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Teamwork:
- Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, geologists, and other technical teams to ensure the successful implementation of EOR techniques in the field.
- Participate in team meetings to review project progress, address challenges, and provide input on potential solutions.
- Assist in coordinating with external contractors and vendors to source necessary equipment and materials for EOR operations.

- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all EOR activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in performing safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards during the design, testing, and operational phases.

- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and other learning opportunities to build expertise in EOR techniques, reservoir engineering, and related technologies.

- Develop technical proficiency with EOR software tools, simulation models, and laboratory techniques for fluid analysis and reservoir characterization.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of petroleum engineering principles and enhanced oil recovery techniques (e.g., water flooding, CO2 injection, thermal recovery).
- Familiarity with reservoir simulation software (e.g., CMG, Eclipse) or eagerness to learn how to use such tools.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large data sets for performance analysis and optimization.
- Knowledge of reservoir characteristics, fluid properties, and recovery factors in petroleum reservoirs.
- Good problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting technical challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with team members.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist in the implementation of EOR projects.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant coursework in enhanced oil recovery, reservoir engineering, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics is advantageous.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in petroleum engineering, EOR methods, or related fields (internships, academic projects, or fieldwork is beneficial).
- Hands-on experience with EOR testing or reservoir simulation software is a plus but not required.
Tools and Technologies:
- Basic knowledge of reservoir simulation software (e.g., CMG, Eclipse) and modeling tools.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, MATLAB) for processing and interpreting reservoir data.
- Exposure to laboratory testing techniques for fluid analysis (e.g., viscosity, pressure-volume-temperature measurements) is beneficial.
