The Energy Manager – HVAC Efficiency in Plants is responsible for evaluating, optimizing, and managing HVAC energy usage across plant facilities. This role involves conducting energy audits, implementing performance improvement projects, managing HVAC retrofits or upgrades, and ensuring sustainable and cost-effective thermal comfort and ventilation strategies for industrial operations.
Conduct detailed HVAC energy audits (Level I/II/III) in plant facilities
Benchmark HVAC energy consumption (kWh/ton, kWh/m², etc.) against standards
Analyze trends in power usage of chillers, AHUs, compressors, cooling towers, and ventilation systems
Identify and implement efficiency measures such as:
Chiller sequencing & VFD integration
AHU optimization, CO₂-based demand ventilation
Heat recovery systems, free cooling strategies
Recommend and lead retrofitting projects for outdated or inefficient HVAC equipment
Deploy and manage Energy Management Systems (EMS/BMS/SCADA) for real-time HVAC data monitoring
Perform data analytics to detect inefficiencies, drift, or anomalies in equipment performance
Develop dashboards, KPIs (COP, EER, IKW/TR), and analytics reports for internal stakeholders
Manage HVAC energy projects from concept through commissioning
Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, EPC contractors, and internal maintenance teams
Develop business cases, calculate ROI, and secure budgets for energy conservation measures (ECMs)
Provide guidance to plant maintenance teams on energy-efficient operating practices
Ensure systems operate at design efficiency via periodic testing, balancing, and recalibration
Optimize controls for chillers, VAVs, AHUs, exhaust systems, and thermal storage
Drive plant sustainability goals related to HVAC energy use and carbon emissions
Ensure compliance with government energy mandates (BEE, ASHRAE 90.1, ISO 50001)
Prepare documentation and support green certifications (LEED, IGBC, EDGE, etc.)
Conduct HVAC energy efficiency workshops for technicians and operators
Coordinate with cross-functional departments to align HVAC strategy with production, QA, EHS, and finance
Report savings, risks, and initiatives to plant leadership or corporate sustainability teams
