Job Title: Electromechanical Technician

Job Summary:

The Junior Electromechanical Technician is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electromechanical systems, including electrical and mechanical equipment, machinery, and automation systems. This role provides hands-on experience with troubleshooting, testing, and ensuring the proper functionality of electromechanical systems under the supervision of senior technicians or engineers. The Junior Technician will contribute to daily maintenance activities, system calibration, and improvements while gaining technical knowledge in the electromechanical field.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation and Assembly:

    • Assist with the installation and assembly of electromechanical systems, including electrical wiring, mechanical components, and control panels.
    • Help in setting up and configuring electrical circuits, motors, actuators, sensors, and controllers according to technical diagrams and system specifications.
    • Support the team in connecting and testing systems to ensure that they function properly and meet performance standards.
  2. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Perform routine maintenance on electromechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and automation systems.
    • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, identifying faults, and helping to replace defective parts.
    • Support the repair and replacement of malfunctioning components, including motors, relays, wiring, and sensors.
  3. System Calibration and Testing:

    • Help calibrate and test electromechanical systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with specifications.
    • Assist in using testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, tachometers) to measure system performance and make adjustments as needed.
    • Record calibration and testing results, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  4. Equipment Inspection:

    • Perform visual inspections of electromechanical systems and equipment to detect any signs of wear, damage, or malfunction.
    • Assist senior technicians in conducting more in-depth inspections and preventive maintenance to avoid system breakdowns.
    • Help ensure that equipment operates within specified parameters and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and testing activities, ensuring proper documentation of equipment status and work completed.
    • Support the creation of service reports, documenting the steps taken to resolve issues, parts replaced, and any actions that were necessary.
    • Help keep track of inventory levels for replacement parts and report any shortages to senior staff.
  6. Health and Safety Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during all maintenance, repair, and installation tasks.
    • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working with electrical and mechanical systems to prevent accidents or injuries.
    • Report any safety hazards or concerns immediately to supervisors or safety officers.
  7. Team Collaboration and Support:

    • Collaborate with senior technicians and other team members to complete tasks and troubleshoot problems effectively.
    • Follow instructions carefully and ask for clarification when needed to ensure proper completion of tasks.
    • Support senior technicians during system testing, calibration, and troubleshooting to enhance knowledge and improve skills.
  8. Learning and Development:

    • Take part in training sessions and hands-on learning activities to improve technical skills related to electromechanical systems, tools, and technologies.
    • Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in electromechanical systems, aiming for continuous improvement in technical knowledge.
    • Actively learn from experienced team members and seek opportunities to expand knowledge in the field of electromechanical systems and troubleshooting.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of electromechanical systems, including electrical circuits, mechanical components, and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical safety standards and practices for working with electrical systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and tachometers.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure quality work and safe handling of equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the electromechanical field, taking on more responsibility as experience increases.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with coursework in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Associate's degree or certification in electromechanical technology, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering is a plus but not required.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Power Distribution Networks

  • Assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electromechanical components in power distribution systems.
  • SCADA and PLC Systems

  • Performing basic programming, calibration, and troubleshooting of SCADA and PLC systems in electromechanical setups.
  • Electrical Safety Standards and Codes (IEC, NEC)

  • Ensuring compliance with IEC, NEC, and safety standards during electromechanical operations and maintenance tasks.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in electromechanical systems, electrical or mechanical maintenance, or related fields.
  • Internships or academic projects related to electromechanical systems or industrial equipment are advantageous.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools used in electromechanical assembly and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical testing and measurement tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Exposure to automation systems and industrial equipment is beneficial.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and report findings to senior technicians.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting equipment, working in confined spaces, or standing for extended periods.
  • A proactive approach to learning and expanding technical knowledge.
