Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations. Performs preventive maintenance, responds to breakdowns, and supports upgrades/projects while complying with electrical safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair LV electrical systems: lighting, power distribution, sockets, panels, DBs, cable trays, conduits, earthing, and small power.

  • Diagnose electrical faults using test instruments (multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester/megger) and restore service quickly.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on switchgear, breakers, contactors, relays, motors, VFDs (basic), and control circuits.

  • Read and interpret drawings: single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, panel layouts, and method statements.

  • Carry out cable termination, glandings, jointing (as applicable), and continuity/IR testing.

  • Support generators/UPS/ATS basic checks (where required): alarms, changeover, battery status, and visual inspections.

  • Ensure compliance with LOTO, permit-to-work, and electrical safety procedures; use PPE correctly.

  • Maintain work logs, checklists, and report recurring issues/root causes to supervisor.

  • Coordinate with other trades and vendors during shutdowns, breakdowns, and project works.

  • Maintain housekeeping in electrical rooms, ensure clear access, labeling, and safe storage of tools/material.

  • Identify spare parts needs and assist with inventory control.

Requirements (Qualifications & Experience)

  • ITI/Diploma in Electrical (or equivalent vocational certification).

  • 2–5 years’ experience in maintenance/installation (facilities, industrial, MEP, utilities, or construction).

  • Good knowledge of LV systems (single-phase/three-phase), panels/DBs, and basic motor/control circuits.

  • Ability to troubleshoot independently and follow drawings/specs.

Preferred

  • UAE/GCC experience in facilities/MEP.

  • Experience with VFDs, BMS interface basics, MCCs, or industrial controls (advantage).

  • Familiarity with DEWA/ADDC/SEWA standards (advantage, depending on emirate).
