Job Title: Electrical Technician
Job Summary:
The Electrical Technician (Fresher) is an entry-level role designed for individuals starting their career in electrical systems and equipment. The role involves assisting senior technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including wiring, circuit boards, motors, and electrical panels. The Electrical Technician will gain hands-on experience working with electrical tools and safety procedures while learning to troubleshoot and ensure the proper functioning of electrical systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting in Electrical Installations:
- Support senior technicians in the installation of electrical systems, including wiring, switches, outlets, electrical panels, and lighting systems.
- Assist in setting up electrical circuits, ensuring that all connections are made according to specifications and safety standards.
- Help with connecting and securing electrical systems, including working with power tools and measuring instruments to ensure proper installation.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks on electrical systems and equipment, such as checking wiring, replacing faulty components, and testing circuit breakers.
- Help identify electrical faults and assist in repairing or replacing faulty electrical parts (e.g., wires, fuses, switches).
- Learn to use electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters) to troubleshoot issues and check the functionality of electrical systems.
System Inspections and Testing:
- Conduct basic inspections of electrical installations to ensure compliance with safety codes and performance standards.
- Assist in performing tests on electrical systems and components to verify their functionality and safety.
- Help record testing results, noting any defects or issues, and assisting in corrective actions as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and work procedures to ensure a safe working environment during installations and maintenance activities.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling electrical systems.
- Assist senior technicians in ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Assist in updating system schematics and technical drawings, as required.
- Report any issues, defects, or safety concerns to senior technicians or supervisors for further action.
Learning and Development:
- Take part in on-the-job training, learning from senior technicians and engineers to build technical skills and knowledge of electrical systems.
- Stay informed about electrical safety standards, new technologies, and best practices in electrical installation and maintenance.
- Gain experience and progressively handle more complex tasks under the supervision of senior team members.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure that electrical systems are functioning optimally.
- Provide support to senior technicians in completing large or complex electrical tasks, offering assistance with basic activities and ensuring the smooth operation of projects.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and systems.
- Familiarity with electrical tools and equipment, such as multimeters, wire strippers, and power drills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical diagrams, and blueprints (training may be provided).
- Basic knowledge of electrical safety standards and protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good communication skills for working with team members and reporting on tasks.
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in the electrical field.
Educational Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any certification or coursework in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Additional training in electrical safety standards or electrical system diagnostics is beneficial.
Experience:
- No prior professional experience required.
- Internships, academic projects, or personal work related to electrical systems are advantageous.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with basic electrical tools (e.g., multimeters, wire cutters, screwdrivers, drills).
- Basic knowledge of electrical measurement equipment and testing devices.
- Exposure to electrical circuit simulation software or tools is a plus.
