Job Title: Electrical Systems Calibration Technician
Job Summary:
The Electrical Systems Calibration Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of calibration technicians, ensuring that electrical systems and components are properly calibrated, tested, and optimized in industrial, commercial, and manufacturing environments. This leadership role involves managing daily calibration activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, troubleshooting complex calibration issues, and driving team development. The Supervisor will oversee calibration projects, provide guidance to junior technicians, and collaborate with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of electrical systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Supervise and manage a team of electrical systems calibration technicians, ensuring that daily tasks and projects are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities based on the skills and experience of team members, ensuring that work is completed to high standards of accuracy and safety.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and ensure that the team adheres to best practices and safety protocols.
Calibration and Testing:
- Oversee the calibration of electrical equipment, including voltage meters, current meters, oscilloscopes, transformers, and other key electrical components.
- Ensure that all electrical systems are calibrated accurately and meet the necessary performance specifications.
- Manage the execution of routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks on electrical equipment, ensuring systems function reliably and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot complex calibration issues and provide hands-on support when necessary to resolve technical problems.
Project Management:
- Coordinate and manage calibration projects, ensuring that tasks are completed on time, within budget, and meet operational requirements.
- Work with engineers, production teams, and other departments to ensure that calibration work is integrated smoothly into overall system operations.
- Track project progress, allocate resources, and ensure that projects adhere to defined objectives and timelines.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on calibration activities, including timelines, test results, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure that all calibration activities comply with relevant safety standards, electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), and industry regulations (e.g., OSHA).
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure that all calibration work meets internal and external standards.
- Conduct audits of calibration processes and systems to identify potential improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Address and resolve any non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions to ensure continuous adherence to safety and quality standards.
Equipment Maintenance and Resource Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and repair of calibration equipment and tools to ensure they remain in good working condition.
- Ensure proper inventory management of calibration tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring that the necessary resources are available to perform calibration tasks without delays.
- Coordinate the calibration and servicing of calibration equipment to ensure accuracy and precision in testing.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety by ensuring that team members follow all electrical safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Monitor the work environment for any electrical hazards or safety risks, reporting and addressing concerns promptly.
- Lead safety briefings and training sessions for the calibration team to promote a safety-conscious culture within the department.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all calibration activities, including test results, maintenance logs, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on calibration work, providing recommendations for improvements or maintenance needs to senior management.
- Ensure that all documentation is properly stored and accessible for audits, inspections, or future reference.
Continuous Improvement and Training:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize calibration processes, improve system accuracy, and increase operational efficiency.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and industry standards in electrical calibration.
- Ensure that team members receive training and development opportunities to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, calibration techniques, and testing procedures.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving complex calibration issues in electrical systems and components.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior technicians and manage a team effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical safety standards, codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), and regulations (e.g., OSHA).
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and technical manuals.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in electrical calibration, electrical safety, or industrial instrumentation (e.g., Six Sigma, OSHA, NEC) are a plus.
- Additional training in industrial control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) or project management is beneficial.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience in electrical calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing calibration projects and leading a team of technicians in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in electrical systems maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization, with a strong focus on calibration and testing.
Tools and Technologies:
- Expertise with electrical diagnostic and calibration tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal imaging cameras.
- Familiarity with calibration management software (e.g., CMMS) for scheduling, tracking, and reporting on calibration activities.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA) and their integration with electrical systems.
