Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary:

The Junior Electrical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environments. This position involves hands-on learning under the guidance of senior engineers, focusing on the efficient operation of electrical machinery and systems. The Junior Electrical Maintenance Engineer will gain valuable experience in routine maintenance tasks, diagnostics, and the optimization of electrical equipment to ensure that all systems are functioning correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electrical System Maintenance:

   • Assist in performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems such as motors, control panels, wiring, and distribution systems.
   • Support the maintenance of electrical equipment, including ensuring proper functionality of transformers, circuit breakers, and other key components.
   • Assist in the identification of potential system issues or equipment failure and recommend corrective actions.

2. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:

   • Help troubleshoot electrical problems, including diagnosing faults in wiring, circuits, and electrical components.
   • Use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers) to identify and resolve electrical issues.
   • Assist senior engineers in investigating and resolving faults that impact system performance, minimizing downtime.

3. System Installation and Modifications:

   • Assist in the installation of new electrical equipment, control systems, and wiring as part of system upgrades or installations.
   • Help with system modifications and replacements, ensuring compliance with safety standards and engineering guidelines.
   • Support testing of electrical systems after installation, ensuring everything functions as designed.

4. Safety and Compliance:

   • Follow safety protocols and work in compliance with industry electrical standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, OSHA).
   • Ensure electrical systems are installed and maintained following lock-out/tag-out and other safety procedures.
   • Contribute to safety inspections and audits to ensure that electrical systems meet safety standards.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance work, including equipment logs, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
   • Assist in preparing maintenance reports, identifying potential improvements, and documenting any issues encountered.
   • Help keep track of inventory for electrical supplies and components, ensuring materials are available for required repairs and maintenance tasks.

6. Learning and Development:

   • Continuously develop technical skills in electrical maintenance, control systems, and industrial machinery under the guidance of senior engineers.
   • Stay updated on the latest developments in electrical engineering, automation, and maintenance technologies.
   • Participate in training programs, workshops, or educational courses to expand knowledge in electrical maintenance.

7. Collaboration and Teamwork:

   • Work closely with senior engineers and technicians to complete electrical maintenance tasks.
   • Communicate effectively with team members, providing updates on progress, problems, and solutions.
   • Support cross-functional teams with electrical maintenance needs for ongoing projects.

8. Emergency Maintenance and Support:

   • Assist in emergency repair tasks when electrical equipment or systems experience unexpected failures.
   • Provide support during system downtime, working to restore functionality quickly and efficiently.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

• Basic understanding of electrical systems, components, and wiring.
• Familiarity with electrical diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, OSHA).
• Ability to read electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical issues.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on safety in all tasks.
• Willingness to learn and work under supervision while developing technical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Coursework or academic projects related to electrical systems, maintenance, and troubleshooting is advantageous.
• Certifications in electrical safety, maintenance, or similar fields are beneficial but not required.

Experience:

• 1-2 years of experience in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or a similar technical field.
• Internships, academic projects, or hands-on experience with electrical systems or machinery are a plus.

Tools and Technologies:

• Familiarity with electrical testing tools such as multimeters, insulation testers, and circuit analyzers.
• Exposure to electrical maintenance management software or tools (e.g., CMMS) is beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of PLC systems or control systems is advantageous but not necessary.
