Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Job Summary:
The Fresher Electrical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment in industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environments. This entry-level position is designed for individuals seeking to begin their career in electrical maintenance. The role involves learning and gaining hands-on experience under the supervision of senior engineers, ensuring the efficient operation of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Maintenance:
- Assist in performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including motors, transformers, control panels, wiring, and other electrical components.
- Help in troubleshooting electrical faults, identify issues with wiring, circuit boards, and components, and assist in implementing corrective actions to restore equipment functionality.
- Learn to perform basic repairs and replacements of electrical components and equipment under supervision.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Help diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions in machinery, equipment, and control systems.
- Work with senior engineers to identify faults, using diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) to detect electrical issues in systems.
- Assist in interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints to support troubleshooting and repairs.
System Installation and Upgrades:
- Assist in the installation of new electrical equipment, wiring, and components, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the upgrade and modification of existing electrical systems to improve efficiency, meet safety standards, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Help with system configuration and testing after installation to ensure proper functionality.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and electrical safety standards, when working with electrical systems and equipment.
- Assist in conducting safety checks to ensure that electrical systems comply with internal and external safety standards and regulations.
- Participate in safety audits and inspections, helping to identify and address potential hazards in electrical systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, system inspections, and any changes made to electrical systems.
- Assist in preparing maintenance reports, documenting issues, corrective actions taken, and system performance.
- Support the preparation of equipment logs, inventory tracking for spare parts, and other documentation related to electrical maintenance tasks.
Learning and Development:
- Continuously develop knowledge and technical skills in electrical maintenance, control systems, and industrial machinery under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in training and workshops to learn new electrical maintenance techniques, safety practices, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies in electrical systems, tools, and equipment.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with senior engineers, operators, and other team members to ensure electrical systems function smoothly and safely.
- Provide technical support and assistance to other departments or teams as needed.
- Attend meetings and report progress on maintenance tasks, discussing potential improvements in system reliability and efficiency.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and electrical components.
- Familiarity with electrical tools and diagnostic equipment, such as multimeters, insulation testers, and circuit testers.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NEC).
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and take on more responsibilities in electrical maintenance tasks.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant coursework or academic projects related to electrical systems, maintenance, or troubleshooting is a plus.
- Any certifications in electrical safety or maintenance (e.g., OSHA) are beneficial but not required.
Experience:
- No prior professional experience required.
- Internships, academic projects, or hands-on experience with electrical maintenance systems is a plus but not mandatory.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with electrical diagnostic tools and test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, and power analyzers.
