Job Title: Electrical Commissioning Engineer
Job Summary:
The Fresher Electrical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for assisting in the commissioning and testing of electrical systems and equipment to ensure they are installed correctly and meet all operational requirements. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical commissioning and start a career in electrical engineering. The role involves learning to perform system tests, troubleshoot electrical issues, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems. The Engineer will work under the supervision of senior engineers to complete commissioning tasks and ensure systems meet the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning Support:
- Assist senior engineers in commissioning electrical systems, including power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and control systems.
- Help ensure that electrical equipment and systems are installed according to design specifications, manufacturer instructions, and safety standards.
- Support the testing of electrical systems to ensure they function as expected and meet operational requirements.
System Testing and Inspection:
- Learn to carry out routine inspections and functional testing of electrical systems during the commissioning phase.
- Assist in testing and validating electrical components, including protection relays, power transformers, and electrical panels.
- Help document test results, and assist in identifying and troubleshooting any discrepancies or performance issues found during testing.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues identified during the commissioning process.
- Use diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, insulation testers, and circuit analyzers, to help identify issues in electrical circuits and systems.
- Assist in making adjustments or reconfigurations to electrical systems to ensure they perform to the required standards.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all relevant safety procedures and industry regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, OSHA) during the commissioning process.
- Assist in ensuring all electrical systems and equipment are safely installed, tested, and commissioned without compromising safety.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments to help identify potential hazards during system commissioning and operation.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Help maintain accurate records of the commissioning process, including test results, performance metrics, and any changes made to electrical systems during commissioning.
- Assist in preparing and filing commissioning reports, ensuring that all activities are documented and compliant with internal and external standards.
- Maintain an organized record of any commissioning adjustments, reconfigurations, or modifications to electrical systems.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and other technical teams to complete commissioning tasks on schedule and to specifications.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clear understanding of commissioning requirements, progress, and challenges.
- Participate in project meetings and share updates on commissioning activities, assisting with coordination among departments.
Learning and Development:
- Continuously develop technical knowledge and skills in electrical commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in electrical systems commissioning.
- Take part in training programs and learning opportunities to develop expertise in electrical engineering and commissioning processes.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and electrical components.
- Familiarity with electrical testing and diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers, circuit analyzers).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and design specifications.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, OSHA).
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in electrical commissioning processes, troubleshooting, and testing techniques.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with senior engineers and project teams.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant coursework or academic projects related to electrical systems, circuits, and testing is a plus.
- Basic certifications in electrical safety or relevant areas are advantageous but not required.

Electrical Systems Control and Monitoring
- Understanding and managing systems for monitoring electrical operations.
Power Distribution Networks
- Designing, testing, and ensuring the reliability of power distribution systems.
SCADA and PLC Systems
- Configuring, operating, and troubleshooting Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Experience:
- No prior professional experience required.
- Internships, academic projects, or hands-on experience with electrical systems and testing equipment is beneficial but not mandatory.
Tools and Technologies:
- Exposure to electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers, power analyzers) is a plus.
- Familiarity with electrical commissioning software or tools (e.g., SCADA, PLC systems) is advantageous but not required.
