Job Title: Electrical Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior Electrical Calibration Engineer is responsible for leading advanced calibration, testing, and maintenance of high-precision electrical instruments and systems. This role requires extensive technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex calibration projects. The Senior Engineer ensures compliance with industry standards, drives process improvements, and mentors junior engineers to build a high-performing calibration team.

Key Responsibilities:

Calibration and Testing:

  • Perform and oversee advanced calibration of electrical instruments, including high-precision multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and frequency counters.
  • Ensure measurement accuracy by validating equipment performance against international standards and resolving discrepancies.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex calibration and measurement issues.

Documentation:

  • Develop and review calibration procedures, ensuring they meet ISO 17025 and other applicable standards.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of calibration results, test data, and corrective actions.
  • Generate comprehensive reports for stakeholders, highlighting findings, improvements, and compliance adherence.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct and supervise preventive maintenance and performance verification of calibration equipment.
  • Lead the resolution of complex technical issues with instruments and systems, implementing innovative solutions.
  • Ensure the reliability and operational readiness of calibration tools and facilities.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all calibration processes comply with regulatory and industry standards, such as ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and NIST traceability.
  • Participate in and lead internal and external audits, demonstrating adherence to quality systems and protocols.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformities identified during audits.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Assign and oversee tasks within the calibration team, ensuring timely completion with high-quality standards.
  • Lead training programs to keep the team updated on emerging calibration technologies and methodologies.

Process Optimization:

  • Identify inefficiencies in calibration workflows and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and productivity.
  • Drive the adoption of advanced calibration tools, techniques, and technologies to modernize operations.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical measurement principles and instrumentation, including voltage, current, resistance, and frequency.
  • Expertise in advanced calibration tools such as multifunction calibrators, signal generators, power meters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex calibration challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in quality standards, including ISO 17025, and experience in audit processes.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to handle multiple calibration projects efficiently.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced certifications in calibration or metrology, such as Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or equivalent, are highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Power Distribution Networks

  • Overseeing the calibration, optimization, and reliability assessment of instrumentation within large-scale power distribution networks.
  • SCADA and PLC Systems

  • Leading the calibration, integration, and system-wide troubleshooting of SCADA and PLC systems in advanced electrical environments.
  • Electrical Safety Standards and Codes (IEC, NEC)

  • Driving adherence to IEC, NEC, and global safety standards, conducting safety audits, and implementing compliance frameworks.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in electrical calibration or related fields.
  • Proven track record of managing complex calibration projects and mentoring technical teams.

Tools and Equipment:

  • High-precision calibration tools such as multifunction calibrators, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with calibration management software for data logging, scheduling, and reporting.

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills to manage teams and engage with stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining safety, compliance, and operational excellence in all activities.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and adopt emerging calibration technologies.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites or facilities as needed for on-site calibration tasks.
