Job Title: Electrical Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Electrical Calibration Engineer is responsible for independently managing calibration, testing, and maintenance of electrical instruments and systems. This role includes troubleshooting complex issues, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of calibration processes. The Mid-Level Engineer provides technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers while ensuring the reliability and accuracy of critical measurement systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Calibration and Testing:

  • Perform advanced calibration of electrical instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Validate and verify the performance of high-precision measurement devices against international standards.
  • Identify and address calibration errors or deviations, implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed calibration records, logs, and certificates to meet ISO 17025 and organizational requirements.
  • Generate calibration reports and provide technical feedback to stakeholders.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance of calibration equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues with electrical systems and instruments, providing technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and system upgrades.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all calibration activities comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO 17025, ISO 9001) and organizational protocols.
  • Promote and adhere to safety standards in all calibration and testing environments.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on large-scale calibration projects and audits.

Process Optimization:

  • Evaluate and improve calibration workflows, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in operations.
  • Stay updated on the latest calibration technologies and methodologies to drive innovation.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced understanding of electrical measurement principles, including voltage, current, resistance, and frequency.
  • Proficiency in using calibration equipment such as multifunction calibrators, oscilloscopes, power meters, and signal analyzers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues in calibration processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and practices, such as ISO 17025, ANSI, and NIST traceability.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications in calibration or metrology, such as Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), are highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Power Distribution Networks

  • Leading the calibration and maintenance of advanced instrumentation in power distribution systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • SCADA and PLC Systems

  • Managing the calibration, integration, and troubleshooting of SCADA and PLC systems for complex electrical setups.
  • Electrical Safety Standards and Codes (IEC, NEC)

  • Enforcing compliance with IEC, NEC, and other safety standards during calibration activities and conducting risk assessments.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical calibration or related fields.
  • Proven track record of independently managing calibration activities and resolving complex technical issues.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Multifunction calibrators, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power analyzers, and data logging systems.
  • Familiarity with calibration management software for scheduling and documentation.
