Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job TitleECS Reliability Engineer – Ventilation and Humidity Controls

Job Summary:

The Senior ECS Reliability Engineer provides technical leadership and strategic direction for reliability engineering activities focused on ventilation and humidity control systems within aerospace environmental control systems (ECS). This role drives system-level reliability strategies, leads complex failure investigations, and partners closely with design, test, manufacturing, and certification teams to ensure mission-critical cabin environmental performance and compliance with aerospace standards. The senior engineer mentors teams, influences design decisions, and shapes reliability processes to support innovation and product excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all reliability engineering efforts related to ventilation and humidity control components in aerospace ECS, establishing reliability goals and strategies across projects.

  • Conduct and oversee advanced reliability analyses including FMEA, fault tree analysis (FTA), reliability block diagrams, and lifecycle prediction models.

  • Drive root cause investigations of complex failures and systemic reliability issues, directing corrective and preventive action plans across functions.

  • Partner with design and systems engineering to integrate reliability considerations early in the product development lifecycle, influencing architecture and component selection.

  • Lead development and execution of reliability test programs, including accelerated stress testing and environmental qualification.

  • Analyze reliability data, failure reports, and maintenance records to monitor system health and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Oversee reliability modeling and database management, ensuring accurate and actionable data supports decision-making.

  • Support certification and compliance activities by providing reliability input to aerospace regulatory requirements (e.g., FAR 25, DO-160, ARP 4754) and company standards.

  • Mentor, train, and lead reliability engineers and cross-functional team members, fostering a culture of quality and reliability excellence.

  • Present complex technical reliability findings and strategic recommendations to senior management, customers, and certification authorities.

  • Champion reliability best practices, process improvements, and innovation initiatives within the ECS engineering organization.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field (required).

  • Master’s or PhD in Reliability Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive reliability engineering experience in aerospace or highly regulated industries, with a focus on ECS or ventilation/humidity systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing reliability programs and driving design-for-reliability initiatives.

  • Proven track record of leading complex failure investigations and reliability growth activities.

Technical Skills:

  • Expert proficiency with reliability analysis tools and methodologies (FMEA, FTA, Weibull analysis, reliability block diagrams).

  • Deep knowledge of aerospace environmental control systems and ventilation/humidity control components.

  • Strong understanding of aerospace regulatory and certification requirements related to ECS reliability.

  • Experience in reliability testing methods, including environmental and accelerated life testing.

  • Advanced data analysis skills and familiarity with scripting/programming languages (Python, MATLAB) for automation and analytics.

  • Familiarity with PLM systems and integration of reliability data into product lifecycle workflows.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and project management skills, capable of guiding multidisciplinary teams and complex programs.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, able to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences including executives and customers.

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to risk management and innovation.

  • Mentor and coach, committed to developing talent and fostering continuous improvement.
