Job Title: Drilling Systems Engineer
Job Summary:
The Drilling Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of drilling system operations, including design, maintenance, and optimization, in oil and gas projects. This role involves managing a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the reliability and safety of drilling systems, and driving compliance with regulatory standards. The Manager leads strategic initiatives, oversees large-scale projects, and aligns drilling system performance with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians to ensure high performance and productivity.
- Define roles, allocate resources, and set performance objectives to achieve operational excellence.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement training programs to develop team expertise in drilling systems.
System Oversight and Optimization:
- Oversee the maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of advanced drilling systems, including control panels, sensors, and actuators.
- Develop and implement strategies for predictive maintenance to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
- Ensure seamless integration of new technologies and upgrades into existing drilling operations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all drilling systems adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and organizational policies.
- Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and implement measures to mitigate hazards in drilling operations.
- Validate safety-critical systems, such as blowout preventers (BOPs) and emergency shutdown mechanisms.
Project Management:
- Plan, execute, and oversee large-scale projects, including drilling system installations, retrofits, and upgrades.
- Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within scope.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on advancements in drilling system technologies and implement innovative solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize drilling operations and enhance system performance.
- Integrate data analytics and predictive maintenance tools to improve operational decision-making.
Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities on drilling system matters.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on system performance, project outcomes, and compliance metrics to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of drilling system operations with business objectives.

- Advanced project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills for managing teams and collaborating with stakeholders.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) and advanced drilling systems are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in drilling systems engineering, with significant experience in leadership roles.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Tools and Technologies:
- Proficiency in SCADA platforms such as Siemens WinCC, Honeywell Experion, or ABB.
- Expertise in advanced diagnostic tools, predictive maintenance systems, and data analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with machine learning and AI applications for drilling system optimization.
