The Director of Project Procurement – Turbine Packages is responsible for leading all strategic and operational procurement activities related to turbine equipment (gas, steam, or hydro), auxiliary systems, and associated services for major capital projects. The role ensures that sourcing strategies, supplier management, cost control, risk mitigation, and contract execution align with project timelines, budgets, and performance targets.
Develop and execute procurement strategies for turbine packages aligned with project objectives and corporate goals.
Serve as subject matter expert in turbine package procurement and interface with engineering, project management, legal, and finance teams.
Identify, evaluate, and prequalify turbine OEMs and critical subcontractors.
Lead RFQs, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations for multi-million-dollar turbine systems and services.
Negotiate and administer EPC, OEM, LTSA, and frame agreements as needed.
Collaborate closely with capital project managers and EPCs to ensure procurement milestones are met.
Monitor vendor progress, manufacturing schedules, and FATs to ensure on-time delivery.
Manage change orders, claims, and vendor performance issues proactively.
Control procurement budgets and drive cost savings through value engineering, alternative sourcing, or negotiation.
Identify procurement risks and develop mitigation plans (logistics delays, currency fluctuations, penalties).
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, ethical standards, and HSE practices.
Lead a team of procurement managers, engineers, and expeditors across project offices and sites.
Build a high-performing procurement function through coaching, KPI tracking, and cross-functional alignment.
Procurement of large rotating equipment (gas/steam turbines, generators, compressors).
Familiarity with major OEMs (GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Ansaldo, etc.)
Long-lead item procurement and logistics coordination for international projects.
Capital projects in power plants, refineries, LNG terminals, or industrial facilities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business (MBA or PMP preferred).
Experience: 15+ years in procurement, with at least 8 years in turbine or heavy equipment procurement for capital projects.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of turbine system specifications, vendor manufacturing processes, and contract terms (Incoterms, LDs, warranties).
