Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Director of Pressure Equipment & Piping (Including Valves) to lead all aspects of pressure-retaining equipment and piping system integrity across our facilities. This role is accountable for the safe, compliant, and efficient management of pressure vessels, piping networks, and valves, with a focus on reliability, inspection, maintenance, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and safety functions to ensure mechanical integrity and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Program Development:

  • Develop and oversee asset integrity strategies for pressure equipment, piping systems, and valves, aligned with applicable codes (e.g., ASME, API, NBIC).

  • Lead the implementation of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), Fitness-for-Service (FFS) assessments, and condition-based maintenance.

  • Establish and maintain long-term plans for inspection, maintenance, and asset lifecycle management.

Inspection & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure all pressure-retaining equipment and piping systems are inspected, tested, and certified according to statutory and industry standards.

  • Direct inspection teams and third-party inspectors in conducting internal, external, and NDE evaluations.

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, jurisdictional, and regulatory requirements for pressure equipment.

Valve Oversight:

  • Manage lifecycle maintenance and integrity of industrial valves, including isolation, control, and safety relief valves.

  • Oversee valve diagnostics, testing, and refurbishment programs in line with OEM and code standards (e.g., API 598, API 527, ISO).

  • Standardize valve maintenance practices across facilities to ensure consistent quality and performance.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and develop a team of pressure equipment engineers, inspectors, piping specialists, and valve technicians.

  • Promote a safety-first culture and drive team engagement, performance, and training initiatives.

  • Provide technical mentorship and ensure succession planning across critical roles.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with plant operations, reliability, engineering, and maintenance teams to align on mechanical integrity and shutdown planning.

  • Provide technical expertise during capital project reviews, commissioning, and equipment modifications.

  • Interface with regulatory agencies and certifying bodies during audits and certifications.

Continuous Improvement & Data Management:

  • Leverage CMMS and asset performance management systems to track inspections, repairs, failures, and recommendations.

  • Drive continuous improvement through failure analysis, lessons learned, and reliability data analytics.

  • Identify and implement new technologies to enhance monitoring and predictive maintenance capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Recognized certification in pressure equipment or piping inspection (e.g., API 510, 570, 579, NBIC).

Experience:

  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in pressure equipment, piping systems, or valve engineering in heavy industry (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation).

  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership or program management role overseeing mechanical integrity or pressure systems.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance, shutdown planning, and RBI/FFS methodologies.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of ASME codes (Section VIII, B31.1/B31.3), API standards, and national boiler/pressure vessel regulations.

  • Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, inspection reports, and technical documentation.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Competence in using CMMS, inspection databases, and engineering analysis tools.

Preferred Certifications:

  • API 510 (Pressure Vessels), API 570 (Piping), API 580/581 (RBI), API 653 (Tanks)

  • National Board (NB) Commission or R Certification
