Roles & Responsibilities

The Senior Director of Pressure Equipment Integrity is responsible for developing and leading the enterprise-wide strategy and governance of all pressure-retaining equipment across facilities. This executive role ensures that all systems comply with API, ASME, NBIC, and jurisdictional regulations while enhancing equipment reliability, lifecycle performance, and mechanical integrity. The position has oversight over multiple sites, plants, or business units, and interfaces with executive leadership, regulators, and technical authorities.


📌 Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Define the company-wide vision and roadmap for pressure equipment integrity, aligning with reliability, safety, and production goals.

  • Oversee mechanical integrity programs for pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, piping, and tanks across all facilities.

  • Integrate global best practices in asset integrity management, RBI, and lifecycle planning.

2. Compliance & Technical Governance

  • Establish and enforce standards aligned with API 510, 570, 579, 580, 653, and ASME Section VIII, IX, B31.3.

  • Lead readiness and response for audits from regulatory bodies, insurers, and internal compliance teams.

  • Serve as the highest-level technical authority for Fitness-for-Service (API 579), Failure Analysis, and FFS decision-making.

3. Turnaround & High-Risk Operations

  • Provide strategic input and final assurance for pressure equipment scopes during major shutdowns and turnarounds.

  • Review and approve inspection and repair plans for critical assets, ensuring timely re-commissioning and regulatory approval.

  • Lead risk reviews for degradation, corrosion under insulation (CUI), creep, fatigue, and weld integrity.

4. Organizational Development & Mentorship

  • Build and lead high-performing teams of mechanical integrity engineers, API inspectors, and RBI specialists.

  • Set competency standards and succession plans across the mechanical integrity function.

  • Guide technical training, knowledge transfer, and certification planning.

5. Digital Asset Integrity Management

  • Drive adoption and optimization of MI/RBI platforms (e.g., PCMS, Meridium, SAP-PM, Credo, Visions).

  • Implement advanced data analytics, AI tools, and predictive modeling for pressure asset health monitoring.

6. Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Present high-level risk, reliability, and inspection reports to C-suite executives and board committees.

  • Engage directly with regulatory authorities and global engineering standard bodies.

  • Lead cross-functional task forces during major failures, investigations, or critical findings.

🎓 Qualifications:

  • Education:
    B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering.
    Executive education in Asset Management or Business Leadership is an advantage.

  • Experience:

    • 20+ years of experience in mechanical integrity, inspection, and pressure systems engineering.

    • At least 8–10 years in senior leadership or enterprise governance roles.

    • Direct experience in high-risk sectors: Oil & Gas, Refining, Chemicals, Power, or similar.

  • Certifications (Required/Preferred):

    • API 510, API 570, API 579, API 580, API 653

    • ASME/NBIC familiarity required.

    • ASNT Level III in relevant NDE methods (preferred).

    • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional registration is desirable.

  • Skills:

    • Visionary leadership and team-building.

    • Deep technical expertise in pressure codes, damage mechanisms, and degradation modeling.

    • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement, including board-level presentations.

    • Strategic decision-making under risk and time pressure.

  • FFS Software: API 579 tools, finite element analysis (FEA) tools
