Job Title: Director of HVAC Projects and Commissioning

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of HVAC Projects and Commissioning to lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of HVAC projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. This leadership role focuses on managing multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring quality control, and overseeing commissioning activities to guarantee systems perform as designed. The ideal candidate will combine strong project management skills with deep technical expertise in HVAC systems and commissioning protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Delivery:

• Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of HVAC projects from design through construction to commissioning and handover.

• Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.

• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams to streamline project workflows.

Commissioning Management:

• Oversee HVAC system commissioning including pre-commissioning, functional performance testing, and final acceptance.

• Develop and enforce commissioning plans, checklists, and quality assurance protocols.

• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and design engineers to resolve commissioning issues and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of project managers, commissioning engineers, and field technicians.

• Promote best practices in project management and commissioning methodologies.

• Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:

• Serve as primary liaison for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout project lifecycle.

• Prepare and present regular project status reports, risk assessments, and commissioning documentation to senior leadership.

• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards (ASHRAE, NEBB, etc.).

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

• Implement process improvements to enhance project delivery efficiency and commissioning effectiveness.

• Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and evolving standards in HVAC systems and commissioning.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Certifications:

• Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), NEBB, or equivalent preferred

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification highly desirable

Experience:

• 10+ years managing HVAC projects and commissioning activities

• Proven track record of leading large, complex HVAC projects through construction and commissioning phases

Technical Skills:

• Deep understanding of HVAC system design, installation, and commissioning processes

• Proficiency with commissioning software, project management tools, and BIM platforms

• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards including ASHRAE, SMACNA, NEBB, and local regulations

Soft Skills:

• Strong leadership and team-building skills

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities

• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
