We are seeking a visionary Director of Energy Systems to lead the strategic management, optimization, and innovation of HVAC, chiller plants, and ventilation systems across multiple facilities. This senior role is responsible for driving energy efficiency, sustainability, and reliability in building energy systems, ensuring cost-effective operations and compliance with environmental standards. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in energy systems with strong leadership skills and a passion for sustainable infrastructure.
Develop and execute the energy systems strategy focused on HVAC, chillers, and ventilation to optimize energy consumption and reduce operational costs.
Lead cross-functional teams including engineers, technicians, and contractors to implement energy projects and system upgrades.
Champion sustainability initiatives and ensure alignment with corporate energy and environmental goals.
Oversee design reviews, system commissioning, and retro-commissioning of HVAC, chiller plants, and ventilation systems.
Implement advanced control strategies and energy management systems (EMS) for optimal system performance.
Analyze energy consumption data and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and peak demand reduction.
Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure high system availability and reliability.
Manage troubleshooting and resolution of complex system issues impacting energy performance.
Ensure compliance with relevant energy codes, ASHRAE standards, local regulations, and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, ENERGY STAR).
Lead energy audits, benchmarking, and reporting efforts.
Develop and manage budgets for energy system projects, upgrades, and maintenance.
Oversee procurement, vendor negotiations, and contract management for equipment and services.
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies such as variable speed drives, thermal storage, and smart ventilation.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
Collaborate with facility management, sustainability teams, finance, and executive leadership.
Represent energy systems expertise in strategic planning and executive presentations.

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar certification highly desirable

10+ years in energy systems management, with significant experience in HVAC, chillers, and ventilation
Proven leadership experience managing multi-site energy operations and projects
In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, chiller plants, air handling, and ventilation engineering
Expertise in energy management systems, building automation systems (BAS), and data analytics
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and sustainability certifications
Strategic vision and ability to lead complex technical teams
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Effective stakeholder management and influence at executive levels
