We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Director of Advanced Turbomachinery Programs to lead the design, development, and execution of next-generation turbomachinery systems. This role will be instrumental in managing high-impact programs focused on advanced compressors, turbines, fans, and related components for aerospace propulsion and power systems.
Program Leadership: Direct the execution of advanced turbomachinery programs from concept through detailed design, test, validation, and integration.
Technology Development: Drive the maturation of cutting-edge turbomachinery technologies including aerodynamic optimization, advanced materials, and thermal management solutions.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and certification teams to ensure successful program execution.
Customer and Partner Interface: Serve as the primary technical and program liaison with customers, OEM partners, and research institutions.
Resource & Budget Management: Define program plans, track budgets and schedules, and ensure alignment with company milestones and strategic goals.
Risk & Compliance Management: Identify and mitigate technical and programmatic risks while ensuring compliance with applicable aerospace standards and regulations.
Talent Development: Mentor and lead a high-performing team of turbomachinery engineers and program managers to foster innovation and execution excellence.
High-Efficiency Components: Lead efforts to develop ultra-high-efficiency fans, axial and centrifugal compressors, and turbines to support next-gen jet engines and power systems.
Thermal Management: Oversee R&D in advanced thermal barrier coatings, active cooling, and heat exchanger integration to support high-temperature turbine operation.
Additive & Advanced Manufacturing: Promote adoption of advanced manufacturing techniques (e.g., 3D-printed impellers, blisks, lattice structures) for improved performance and reduced lead time.
Hybrid and Sustainable Propulsion Integration: Align turbomachinery development with hybrid-electric systems and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) readiness.
Aerodynamic & Structural Optimization: Implement tools such as CFD, FEA, and multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) to push boundaries in design performance and weight reduction.
Test & Validation Infrastructure: Drive expansion of turbomachinery test capabilities, including high-speed rigs, subscale demonstrators, and full-engine integration tests.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (Ph.D. preferred).
12–20+ years of experience in turbomachinery design, development, and program leadership within aerospace or high-tech mechanical systems.
Proven track record managing complex, multi-phase technology development programs.
Strong technical knowledge in aerodynamics, thermodynamics, rotordynamics, and materials science for turbomachinery.
Experience with FAA/EASA certification processes and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, FAR Part 33).
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Prior experience in hybrid-electric or low-emission propulsion programs.
Familiarity with digital design tools (ANSYS, CFX, NX, etc.) and digital twin methodologies.
Recognized contributions to the turbomachinery field (e.g., publications, patents, AIAA/ASME involvement).
Background in government-funded R&D (e.g., DARPA, NASA, DoD programs).
