The Director – Process Control Systems is responsible for the strategic leadership, standardization, and continuous improvement of process automation systems across manufacturing and production facilities. This role ensures system reliability, optimal process performance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with digital transformation initiatives.
Define and implement a global process control strategy to optimize production, quality, and efficiency.
Establish and maintain standardized control architectures, engineering guidelines, and automation platforms.
Oversee migration and modernization of legacy DCS/PLC systems to scalable and secure platforms.
Lead design and implementation of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), and SCADA systems.
Ensure consistent process stability, alarm management, loop tuning, and uptime performance.
Introduce advanced process control (APC) and real-time optimization technologies where applicable.
Integrate control systems with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP platforms, and IoT infrastructure.
Lead initiatives in digital twins, predictive analytics, cloud SCADA, and machine learning for process insights.
Enable real-time process visualization, energy optimization, and KPI monitoring.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., GMP, FDA, OSHA, ISO 9001/22000, IEC 61511).
Lead functional safety (SIL) assessments, risk mitigation, and fail-safe design practices.
Implement industrial cybersecurity strategies in accordance with ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST standards.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, IT/OT, quality, and supply chain teams to align control solutions with business needs.
Provide technical governance, mentorship, and oversight to control system engineers and integrators.
Serve as the key interface for technology partners, OEMs, and automation vendors.
Oversee control systems in CAPEX project planning, commissioning, FAT/SAT, and handover stages.
Manage lifecycle cost, obsolescence planning, and upgrades for automation and instrumentation assets.
Ensure reliable documentation, change control, and knowledge retention across the system lifecycle.
Deep expertise in process control theory, DCS/PLC systems, SCADA, and instrumentation
Strategic mindset with hands-on experience in multi-site system rollouts and upgrades
Knowledge of automation platforms (Emerson DeltaV, Siemens PCS 7, Rockwell PlantPAx, ABB 800xA, etc.)
Strong understanding of IT/OT convergence, digital manufacturing, and real-time data integration
Proven leadership in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Control Systems, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or related field
15+ years of experience in process control, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
Certification in ISA standards (ISA-88, ISA-95), Six Sigma, PMP, or cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, GICSP) is a plus
Experience in regulated industries (e.g., food, pharma, chemical) highly desirable
