The Director – Plant Automation and SCADA Systems is responsible for leading the strategy, implementation, and maintenance of plant-wide automation and SCADA solutions. This role ensures optimal control, monitoring, and performance of manufacturing processes through advanced automation technologies, driving operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Develop and execute the plant automation and SCADA systems strategy aligned with business and operational goals.
Lead the design, installation, commissioning, and support of automation systems including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMI platforms.
Oversee integration of automation systems with MES, ERP, and other enterprise software.
Ensure high system availability, reliability, and performance through robust architecture and proactive maintenance.
Manage a team of automation engineers and technicians, promoting skills development and best practices.
Establish standards, documentation, and governance for automation and SCADA projects.
Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, IT, and safety teams to ensure system compliance and security.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging automation data and analytics.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets related to automation and SCADA systems.
Automation Strategy & Implementation:
Lead the development and deployment of plant-wide automation solutions to improve control and reduce manual intervention.
SCADA System Leadership:
Ensure SCADA platforms provide real-time monitoring, alarming, and data acquisition for critical plant processes.
System Integration & Interoperability:
Oversee seamless integration between PLCs, DCS, SCADA, MES, and ERP systems to ensure smooth data and control flow.
Reliability & Performance Optimization:
Implement preventive maintenance, system health monitoring, and fault diagnosis to maximize uptime.
Compliance & Security:
Ensure automation systems comply with industry safety standards (IEC 61508/61511), cybersecurity guidelines (IEC 62443), and corporate policies.
Team Leadership & Development:
Build and mentor a high-performing automation team skilled in the latest technologies and best practices.
Vendor & Project Management:
Manage external suppliers, project timelines, budgets, and ensure quality deliverables.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or related field.
10+ years of experience in industrial automation and SCADA systems, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Deep knowledge of PLCs, DCS, SCADA platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, ABB, Honeywell).
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
Experience with safety and cybersecurity standards related to automation.
Proven leadership and project management skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
